So imagine UMass, UConn FB, and URI Olympic sports to the MAC. That's all three Southern New England Flagships to the MAC. It would be a step down for basketball initially. But if URI and UMass get their sh-t together and the A10 is raided in 2026, it would become pretty close. More importantly if there is a great split and the A10 does not make the cut, URI would still be in the better position. It also provides football a path out of the CAA.

You can imagine many things, like winning the lottery or a date with Sydney Sweeney. I think that's equally as likely as this bizarro Frankenstein conference you're suggesting. I think there is a much greater chance that UMass gives up on their pursuit of burning barrels of money each year in football.

If the A10 does not make the great split, URI would be in a better position. Have you looked at the CAA football recent adds. It would provide a future path for the football team. If URI and UMass get their sh-t together and the A10 is raided in 2026, it would be pretty close to the wounded again A10. It also maintains a natural rival*, Kent State, Akron, Ohio and Toledo are pretty good company. Then throw in Buffalo and Miami.

How is that A10 media contract going. It was 5M in 2012,and soon 2024. The MAC is twice as much and will probably go up 5M or more depending if there is an expansion to the east.

* We'd probably continue the playing as long a Thorr Bjorn is your AD.

Good luck trying to get any takers to go along with UMass and UConn. My thinking is they, much like Thelma and Louise before them, will make their similar journey alone.
