In fact, I'd have the entire team and coaching staff watch multiple games of these 2 guys. Both players are from the Congo, both players play Center leveraging their strengths of rebounding, blocking shots and taking high percentage shots. You don't see these guys over-dribbling. They stay within the zone close to the basket, never venturing out towards the 3 point line. Wonder if that's how they teach basketball in the Congo but whatever they taught Nsoseme and Tshiebwe it has certainly worked wonders. They are also good role models and natural leaders to their teammates.
Even easier, I would have called up Kenny Green who seems very accessible and engaged with the Rhody program. Have him spend some time with the twins. Whether on or off the court I can assure you that would have been time well spent.
A big man assistant as you suggest makes sense Bar.
As I watched Nsoseme I couldn’t help but think of URI with Makhi and Makhel. Both have the height, physical build and at least the talent of Nsomeme.
If I was coach I’d have them both watch the Georgia State victory over Louisiana to win the Sunbelt AQ.
-Stay down low, get away and stay away from the 3 point line
-Box out on defensive boards. Don’t try to block every shot because that can take you out of defensive and rebounding position
-Stop taking 15-22 foot shots. Most effective and valuable for the team down low
-Box out for offensive rebounds. Get position as early as possible
-Pass the ball back out quickly to shooters on the 3P perimeter line
-Call for the ball down low, aggressively step towards the ball and don’t wait for it to get to you. Tell guards and coaches where you prefer to receive the ball on passes down low
-Dunk the ball whenever possible. Highest percentage shot. Less finesse more power to your games

Makhi and Makhel play hard. They don’t take offensive or defensive plays off. They are not lazy. They could carry this URI team to the Championship game and beyond. Team will go as far as these two guys take it.

But if some things don’t change we won’t contend long for the AQ. Hope they have a great next 5 games in next 5 days.
Ramster, I totally agree. I would allow Makhi a little more freedom to roam because I do think he shows potential as a big 4 with an improving shot. Throw in some serious time practicing at the foul line, maybe even a sports psychologist, to get them to FOCUS at the line. Too often Makhel appears to be just chucking them up. I think if they played as you suggested, our guards' efficiency would improve.

If we simply were good at that and hitting free throws, and all other things stayed the same, the entire season is different. The microcosm of that was the play against Joe's where the kid kicked the ball to Makhel and instead of ending in a layup it ended in a turnover for us.

it all comes back to Cox not getting a point guard in the transfer portal.

On top of the trip to Spain and Italy they are looking to add an excursion to Switzerland so the players/staff can experience another country.

And Arkansas is playing in the great Maui Tournament with excellent competition. Nice to have a European trip in August and a Hawaii trip in November.

As for URI they can take an overseas summer trip every 4 years. I have not heard of a trip yet for next summer and there has been no tournament scheduled as yet for next November/December.

Muss is #1 in twitter interactions by a wide margin, more than double Capipari who is #2. Frank Martin is #4

20 something year olds dancing to EDM is normal, nothing cringe about that.

Now an almost 60 year old coach doing it is cringeworthy. Never been a fan of Musselman, always seems a bit phony and a try hard.

There is nothing wrong with that, but you missed STC's subtle implication that Bulgaria is far away from the US and NBA limelight. Mama will not be pleased.

I don't pray for their demise but the writing is somewhat on the wall.

Rhody15 prediction is likely right.

But they aren't significant enough to our program or KB to warrant a top trending thread. Can we shut this down and any updates on them go in the Where are they Now? This looks petty and lame.

"Where are they now?" is mostly for non-college players. I'll keep this one open, but similar to past threads on Tyrese Martin and others, please try to keep new posts concentrated on game results or new information. Other stuff is at risk of being deleted. I think everyone's opinion on them, good or bad or somewhere in-between, is pretty well-documented at this point.

Arkansas completed its European tour with a 4-0 record as they won both games in Italy over the last few days. In a game today, they defeated the Bakken Bears 70-59. Makhi played 1:29 min, scored no points while Makhel got 4:31 min, scoring 2 points and pulling down 3 rebounds. Earlier Arkansas defeated Bassano, 75-54. In that game, Makhi had PT of 9:16 min, zero points and 3 rebounds. Makhel played 9:30 min, scored 4 points and pulled down 3 rebounds.

Comparing their URI stats: Makhe's average PT was 26.5 min, 10.7 points, 5.6 RB while Makhi got PT of 24.1 min, 9.9 points, 7.3 RB.

While I don't expect to see starting minutes from either twin, it is unfair to compare exhibition minutes with actual game minutes from a prior season.

It’s their last shot at amateur hoops. Good luck to them is my take. Periodic updates are fine with me.

Update on the Mitchell Twins:

Makhel transfered to Arkansas Little Rock. Sitting out the year since it's his 2nd transfer

Makhi remained at Arkansas. He had a double-double last night against Old Dominion.

Interesting comments from HC Muss.......

Makhi Mitchell — a fifth-year senior 6-foot-10 forward — totaled 15 points, a team-leading 10 rebounds, one assist and zero turnovers in 29:25 minutes of game action against the Monarchs.

"I thought he was awesome," head coach Eric Musselman said following the game. "The one shot he missed was his easiest look. It was the cleanest look he had all night and he missed it. Really happy that he went 6 of 7 and could have been 7 of 7. He didn’t force anything, had 10 rebounds."

In the Razorbacks' season-opening 93-59 win over Alcorn State, Mitchell played just 3:40 minutes and didn't record a single statistic other than a personal foul. Then, in the Hogs' most-recent 86-68 win against Gardner-Webb, Mitchell saw an uptick in production with five points, five rebounds and four blocks in 16:35 minutes.

"I mean, thank goodness for him and T-Mark defensive rebounding," Musselman said. "All of us in the room got as many defensive rebounds as everybody else on the team. We had two guys defensive rebound then a bunch of guys do what this room did, which none of us did anything — neither did anybody else defensive rebounding."

Last season, Mitchell averaged 20.1 minutes, 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 31 games. He scored in the double figures 10 times with his season-high being a 15-point performance against then-No. 18 Texas A&M to close out the regular season.

"This was Khi's best game," Musselman said. "This was Khi's best game in everything. This was his best game body language. This was his best game in timeouts and huddles. This was his best game with his teammates. This was his best game with the coaching staff, and then he played really well, too.

"Hopefully he can keep doing that. I thought from a maturity standpoint and really doing what we needed and doing it with really positive passion, he was really good tonight. Really good. Proud of him."

Mitchell's performance against Old Dominion is huge for the Hogs, who have been experimenting throughout the first two games of the season to figure out the ideal frontcourt rotations.

I would be perfectly happy never hearing anything about them ever again.

Unlikable kids.

Obviously talent if you have a coach who understands how to use them (i.e. don't play two immobile centers on the court at the same time, despite what you might have promised their mom).

If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Give to the Athletic Director's Fund

Give to Rhody's NIL

I’d take Tyson,Fuchs, and Foumena 100% of the time over those guys. Good luck to them and let’s never mention them again!!
