"as the duties were handled by Harrison Leonard and Michael DeBolt, both of whom left the program at the end of the year. "

Agree Brian
Never impressed with Harrison Leonard. Knew he was gone before the last game was played last season. He did not impress with his leg strength, his extra points were an adventure

Dylan Shank has a strong leg. His extra points in the spring game were impressive as the ball was kicked strong with plenty of extra distance.

Nice to see a new punter too. Nice to see new players in both Kicking and Punting.

Both kicking & punting were terrible last season.
Not playoff caliber or really even college level kicking.

Completely agree. Both were bad.
Look forward to watching the new guys this year.
I would have pulled Leonard out for the back up last year as he couldn't possibly have been worse.

I had no issues with Davey. Decent length and regularly placed it inside the 20

If you saw the Spring game where Dylan Shank boomed 4 extra points way over the cross bar. Shank did the kicking for both teams in that game. He has a strong leg.

After watching the dismal performance of Leonard last year the new guy is a breath of fresh air and will be a positive this year whereas Leonard was a negative.

What's Fleming supposed to do? Tell his coaches not to recruit guys with names some Rhody fans might not like?

Fleming is building an ever improving team and program year upon year. This coikd be the best year yet.

He was destined to be a kicker or a golfer...?

"I had no issues with Davey. Decent length and regularly placed it inside the 20"
Davey was consistent. In his frosh year,he dropped a snap vs. Ohio a toddler could have caught.
My favorite memory of Davey,a four year starter (?) who did not even make third team all CAA once,in the big Elon game, while watching on the sidelines, was this:
Inside their own 20 (?),he looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown, then shanked the punt and I believe Elon scored on that possession (?).

Lets see if this year's punter can match his numbers.

Redshirt junior Randy Jordan (Tulare, Calif.) was one of CAA Football's top kick returners in the first half of last season before an injury caused him to miss time. Like Mallay, he saw significant snaps in nickel and dime situations, and with 22 career games between Rhode Island and Fresno State to his credit, he is an experienced asset on the corner.
