Maybe Huggins can get a job on the staff at St John's. The school has shown it has low standards for hiring.

Re: 2023 Coaching Carousel
What a silly thing to say when everyone knows we'd be in a far better spot if we hired Pitino instead of Cox. Both Rick and David have been in the same amount of trouble since that time.

I can see Huggy broadcasting for a couple years then maybe has one more coaching gig left ??

He’s 69 and needs to focus on his health. It’s going to take him a couple of years, if ever, to get himself straightened out.

While seeing the ESPN story, was surprised to see in the other coaches to be considered 4 MAC HC coaches, Pat Kelsey and did not spot a current A10 coach, but did see Chris Mack formerly at Xavier from the Big East. (Damn the Big East.)

More realistically, Baker could take a look at Charleston's Pat Kelsey, Ohio's Jeff Boals, Kent State's Rob Senderoff, Akron's John Groce, Toledo's Tod Kowalczyk, Furman's Bob Richey, Liberty's Ritchie McKay, UNC Asheville's Mike Morrell and UNC Wilmington's Takayo Siddle. Northwest Missouri State's Ben McCollum, the most successful Division II coach, will also be linked to the job; Baker was his athletic director 2010-13.
In terms of coaches currently out of a job, Chris Mack could make sense, given his past success. LaVall Jordan has plenty of high-major experience. And then there's John Beilein, who spent five seasons at West Virginia and led the Mountaineers to two Sweet 16s and an Elite Eight before leaving in 2007 for Michigan. Would Baker bring him back? It seems unlikely, but it's worth mentioning.

Watching him this past season had me wondering how much longer he would last. He looked rough.

Re: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Huggins won’t be alive five years from now never mind coaching D1 MBB at the rate he’s going. The details of his most recent DUI were concerning to say the least.
Hopefully he gets his personal life in order, but at 69 and the lifestyle he leads, he is who he is at this point.

Re: 2023 Coaching Carousel
I don’t take that as a slight against us. Anyone who wants to move up in their careers can be “unhappy” with their position. Isn’t necessarily a knock on their surroundings - but you’re not going to want to be in an entry level job forever.

I also do not take offense to Gianna's comment, as tactless as it was. What URI or any school wants in top notch staff members are people who are open minded, eager to grow and happy in the job circumstances. Unhappy people do not make for excellence performance.

I can see that reading of the post, however there are definitely ways to celebrate a new opportunity without talking about being unhappy with the opportunities you've already hadBlue Man wrote: ↑10 months agoI don’t take that as a slight against us. Re: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Not handled well being an understatement
KB Lawyer(s) thoughts on this?
That document basically states that any changes made by Huggins (i.e, his resignation) in the contract will be sufficient if provided in writing and sent by certified or registered mail to the school's athletic department.
Except Huggins didn't do that. He apparently sent an email to the school—using his wife's account, as if this story couldn't get any better—stating he was resigning.
"Please accept this correspondence as my formal notice of resignation as WVU Head Basketball Coach and as notice of my retirement from West Virginia University, effective immediately, " the email read.
There was no official signature from Huggins on the email. It certainly wasn't notarized by an attorney. It wasn't even sent originally to Gee or Baker. Rather it was directed to Steve Uryasz, WVU's Deputy Athletics Director for all things involving men's hoops.
And WVU accepted it, no questions asked. In the legal world, Gee and Baker fumbled big time right there. Baker event sent a reply—to June Huggins' account—congratulating Huggins on his retirement.

Agreed, Reef. Dan has a National Championship and others above him don’t. That makes no sense to me.
Greg McDermott? Oates? Cooley? Just to name a few of several at least.

Re: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Had to be done purposely terrible to generate off season clicks.
Danny outside of the top 10 is hilarious. Matt Painter anywhere near the top 10 is hilarious. Ed Cooley on any ranking list unless it's "highest paid" is hilarious. Hubert Davis? Was Kevin Ollie not available? Juwan Howard?
It's exhausting to type out all the misses. Just laugh and don't give them the like or the cheap clicks.

Nothing confirmed yet but rumor is the leave was due to a potential disciplinary situation and he may not be back.

UPDATE #2
Multiple sources indicated Grasso’s leave of absence was a university decision. There is reportedly an ongoing investigation into inappropriate behavior by the Bryant head coach.
It’s unclear whether or not Grasso will return to the sidelines, but the sources we’ve spoken to could not rule out possible termination.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more updates.

- Or, this is something we have not seen before, a new breed of infraction, so to speak, money line +350
