Our coach is taking full advantage of her recent success. Guaranteed she will parlay her affiliation with USA Basketball into attracting higher profile players into the program. She knows how to work it.

Very Interesting

Rhode Island Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn and women's basketball head coach Tammi Reiss announced a four-year contract extension for associate head coach Adeniyi Amadou.

Most assistant coach contracts at Rhode Island are single-year deals that are subject to renewal on a yearly basis. Amadou's new deal - which also includes a clause that identifies him as the program's head coach in waiting - runs through the 2026-27 season.

Tammy just got a 10 year contract, didn't she? What's the need for a head coach in waiting? Unless they know that Tammy leaving is inevitable.

Always be prepared.

I can certainly understand not being thrilled with a head coach in waiting after the Cox debacle, but this was also Reiss' first head coaching gig, so there's that.

By reading the release and from my understanding there was several big programs (both men and women) who were looking to hire Adeniyi away from us. This package and promotion- 4 year contract and head coach if Tammi leaves was enticing enough for him to stay. Tammi leans on him heavily and Adeniyi has a lot of control within the program.

Great event at the Coastguard House last night to recognize the historic WBB season.

Tammi took the mic for about 10 minutes and expressed how much she loves Rhode Island and will be here for the duration of her contract. Said she was fortunate to keep her whole staff in tact as they were all approached for other jobs. Also noted that at league meetings the WBB coaches picked Rhody preseason #1.

Was very high on Tasha Hyman. Said she will be one of the best guards to ever put on a Rhody uniform

Stats available here - no idea what kind of competition she played against, since I'm not too familiar with the Finnish women's basketball leagues. However, other players from her team committed to South Florida, UTEP, FSU and Washington State, suggesting that it's not some scrub league. Less blocks than you'd think for 6'5", but very good rebounding numbers.

Last year we had a BIG euro who rarely played. It doesn't matter if you are 6'5" or 4'10" if you don't play in games. In 24-25 we are in trouble if we don't have a quality inside player or two. It's good that we are trying to recruit an inside player. We can only hope that she is a force.

You can say that about any player that you recruit. The staff was very high on Anete Adler and based on her performance in Europe, they had every reason to be. After spending an entire season here they felt it wasn't going to happen. So, player and team move on and you seek to find her replacement. Hopefully, they did. If she is the real deal, she should be ready to contribute next year.

As a freshman Ines couldn't handle defensive pressure against better teams at the end of the season. I think this is the reason that Tammi loaded up with PG transfers and recruits. Here's hoping that Ines has made a big jump over last season.

Yeah, it's wonderful that she did such a great job in France, but back at Rhody, there are now so many options, I doubt she's a starter at either guard position.
