Oh Definitely for sure 15, but I’d rather test our team with harder opponents at the place we’ll probably get the most home support all year

It is? You know they coached against each other in the Big Ten and I don't remember that being mentioned by the fans or the media. But whatever...let the hype begin between these ancient rivals.

Fantastic get. One of the best cities in America to travel to. One of the more coveted brands in mid major hoops right now. If Kelsey is there they will continue to be a good win (if you can get it). I would guess we see Arch starting to build the 24-25 schedule for a team that needs to be competing for a berth.

Re: 2023-24 Schedule (top post is current)
We had a series with them about five years back with each team winning at home (Hurley and then Cox as coach). We were to meet them in DC for a neutral site game two seasons ago but it got cancelled due to covid in the URI program. Probably good to start off down there in a year when the game will likely have zero postseason impact for Rhody.

Re: 2023-24 Schedule (top post is current)
First time playing them since Ed Cooley coached there.
Looks like the opener
Let's have everyone healthy and nice and eligible and start off with a W.

You’re right. CCSU on Monday November 6th, then Fairfield on Thursday.Rhody15 wrote: ↑11 months agoI thought I remember seeing that Central CT was the opener.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑11 months agoFirst time playing them since Ed Cooley coached there.

I need to see the entire OOC before commenting. While playing CCSU reminds me of Jim Baron scheduling and 20 win seasons, starting the season against a weak opponent or two when you have an entirely new roster makes some sense. At least it is not a D2/D3 opponent. An early loss will be deflating.

Based on the way the schedule is shaping up, my guess is the PC game will be Dec. 2nd.

Few years back though it was randomly on a Friday night.

I don't mind a Friday night PC game if its on ESPN or FS1 and one of the only games going on at the time, then it's kind of cool to have that standalone game. But otherwise Saturday is the only way to go.

Set up the Seton Hall game now before Mohegan Sun, having two easy games the first week is nice but I would like them to be tested if Northwestern returns everyone and Miss St. is decent still

Friday would be perfect because the first Saturday in December has most of the college football conference championship games

This team desperately needs to start the season with a few wins for the sake of fan engagement. Can’t blame the staff for strategically aligning it that way

Going, looking forward to be back at Mohegan, I have missed making my donations. Wife insists we stay over, probably the near by Marriot.

Per latest Rothstein Top 45 Northwestern #20 will be the highest ranked team we play next season
Mississippi State will be 2nd toughest #28
PC 3rd #40
No A10 Teams in the Top 45

All signs so far pointing to the tournament being only 4 teams at Mohegan, so we will not be getting two low level games at the Ryan Center to fill out the tournamentRhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 year ago In the past the tournament was eight teams and we would play in the top bracket at Mohegan and get two out of conference games from teams in the bottom bracket, however this season they only did the four team top bracket. Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines
Re: 2023-24 Schedule (top post is current)
That will be a huge task.
We will be lucky to even keep that game somewhat close.
But yeah, I guess crazier things have happened, and that is why you play the games.

Re: 2023-24 Schedule (top post is current)
Too bad it is no longer four games. That was an extremely great setup for URI. Got two Ryan Center games secured by the tournament that did not have to be returned. Then got two games versus quality opponents at a supposed neutral site Mohegan Sun that was basically a second home-court.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑11 months agoAll signs so far pointing to the tournament being only 4 teams at Mohegan, so we will not be getting two low level games at the Ryan Center to fill out the tournamentRhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 year ago In the past the tournament was eight teams and we would play in the top bracket at Mohegan and get two out of conference games from teams in the bottom bracket, however this season they only did the four team top bracket. Reminder that Bill wouldn't write the subhead, but yeah, that's probably a product of Gannett / Gatehouse now having a remote copy desk that tries to do like dozens of papers in a night. It was a constant struggle at the Newport Daily News to get pages to look at, because they were always overworked and getting them to the local copy desk super late.

Not to get off track here, but...my wife's cousin Diane, who recently passed away, worked at the Newport Daily News for 40 years. Oh, wow, I hadn't heard! Sad news. Obit is here. I only knew Diane in passing, since every once in a while, she'd pass on a news or business news tip to us. I always had positive interactions with her, though. She worked pretty closely with Janine Weisman, who went from reporter at NDN to editor of the Mercury, which regularly published Diane's photo work.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑11 months agoNot to get off track here, but...my wife's cousin Diane, who recently passed away, worked at the Newport Daily News for 40 years. Re: 2023-24 Schedule (top post is current)
A UNH fan posted on the America East Forum that URI will host New Hampshire in a buy game on December 21, 2023. The poster cites the D1 docket as its source for the game. I however could not find anything on the D1 Docket blog or twitter account to back this up.
If the game does occur, it would actually be against one of the Rams most played opponents of all time. The team have met 114 times with URI leading the series 96-18. The programs first met in 1906 and long played each other home and away each season for decades when they were both in the same conference. Since going to different leagues they have not met often having last played in 2013. The Wildcats last win was back in 1983. URI is 48-3 since 1960.
