I guess the "new model", according to Luis anyway, allows for player dooshiness. This (radio silence...eye roll) is dooshy, shifty, and probably indicates a lack of social and business experience combined with maybe some family paranoia....
Get used to it - a bunch of kids who have had smoke blown up their asses by the AAU culture are now running college basketball.
And as long as there are stupid rich folks willing to spend ungodly sums money to bring a championship to their school, it won't get any better.
This 'model' feeds their ego too - they will love saying they bought their college a championship.
This might be worse than slimy Rich Pitino types running the show.

No rules, no control - welcome to the wild, wild west. Somewhere Preston Murphy is shaking his head.....
Somewhere the SMU football program from the early 80’s is shaking their heads also. Can anyone take a sanction that a school gets going forward serious? The rules are garbage at this point.

Agreed it’s feeds their ego. No way the kids at Miami have that much commercial value to justify what he is paying, in fact most of the pub is about how much he’s paying kids. He basically owns the Miami athletic department for $10m a year. That’s a lot cheaper than buying a pro team.

Factoid. Last year approximately 1/3 of the players that entered the MBB portal did not transfer.

Unless it involves someone who is connected to some players who very recently asked out of their NLIs.

A Kansas guy transferring to ECU. It may not be often but it happens. There are still 1500 kids in the portal. While the anticipation and waiting is difficult, there is plenty of time to get some very good players.

Top defending guard with his ability to press.
Was 2nd in the nation with steals averaging 2.9/game.

Dayton now already adding 2 guards including Cheeks.

Just curious... have you watched Merrimack play? While he may be a good defender, I don't think steals from a Merrimack kid is a good judge. They run a very unique zone that results in quite a bit of steals. They almost always have someone on the top of the steals list. This isn't Briante Weber of VCU guarding 94 turning guys over.

I realize it is Merrimack, but the kid hustles and plays hard on defense.
Not a bad thing, plus AG must see something he likes in his play to take him.

Don't think so today.
But hopefully 1 or 2 additional commits by the end of the month.
I would like us to have the roster filled out by Memorial Day.
With all the new pieces, it will be nice to have everything in place for the start of summer workouts and sessions.

KJ needs to be all over him, from the DMV.
Also shot 47% from 3PT.

I think some of the impatience from fans comes from hoping that there had been some back door deal worked out with a player of note, and the announcement just had to wait for the appropriate timing. I don’t necessarily think that’s a fair belief to hold, but I get wanting it to be true.

It was meant to be funny. But after the failure of last year's crop and how the fan club raved about them, I'm thinking the same thing could happen again. If we get someone late who once highly rated, check to see if their former team is disappointed in their departure.

As others have said, once the “system” settles down a bit, once teams get there footing on how to deal with this thing, there is a period of getting used to this new normal. Once the rosters are set, conference schedules are announced and it gets back to basketball, it will get better for me( at least that is what I am hoping). Right now, the uncertainty is troubling. No?

One ACC coach said it best.

When a player receives any critical feedback or faces some type of adversity, they look to bolt to another program, which helps neither the player or the program.

Of course. These guys have had their asses kissed by the AAU/shoe company pimps for years. Until they get to college most of the coaching they've received consists of "you guard the guy who's guarding you."

I’m not quite there yet, but I am definitely losing interest. I know we are not alone. I hope the sport figures out a better way. For starters, transfers should sit out a year unless the head coach leaves or is fired.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo never wastes an opportunity to give his unfiltered take on the college basketball transfer portal. Tuesday was no exception.

It's fitting that another legendary anti-portal rant came from Izzo on the same day that Malik Hall announced he was returning to seemingly secure a second-straight Michigan State offseason without an addition from the transfer portal.

“I’m a bad guy to talk to about the portal because it’s ridiculous," Izzo said, via Illini Inquirer. "I think all the people that thought it might be a good idea to give kids some freedom? I don’t think they feel that today. To transfer whenever you want, leave whenever you want, do whatever you want. I’m glad it wasn’t that way when I was in school because I would’ve made a lot of bad mistakes. Before it’s all said and done, the biggest losers will be all the people who thought they were the biggest winners. And that’s the kids, the players, the students. Not a fan of it. But there’s a lot of things I’m not a fan of that I have to do. I’ll try to do the best I can. It makes things hard. It's like we put a jail around all the kids on our campus to try and keep people from poaching our kids."
