Former URI Assistant Coach Billy Hahn died yesterday at the age of 69. Hahn was on Jack Kraft's staff in Kingston from 1976-79. His last two years at URI saw the Rams win the ECAC-NE championship for an NCAA bid in 1978 followed by an NIT invite in 1979. He was later the head coach at both Ohio and LaSalle. His longest stints were as an assistant at Maryland (1989-01) and West Virginia (2007-17).

I don't want to derail this tribute to Billy, as I do remember him well, but since RF1 brought this up, 1978 was one of my favorite years as a Ram fan, and Jiggy was other worldly in the ECAC finals.
