if you google search there are multiple articles that call him an "ESPN 4 star". I bet he was at one point and once he signed with a mid-major they dropped him down in his final rankings. Not unusual in the ranking/recruiting world.

I couldn’t care less about rankings but I know people here care big time when it comes to a player who’s a 3* vs a 4*.
