Yep....Former staff member Jerrell Coleman is starting up a Rhody TBT team...gonna be awesome. I assume Hass, Jared, Jarvis, EC and others. Delroy still playing. Would love them to grab Billy Baron who is tearing it up in Europe.

Jersey and I liked Long's game, but since he didn’t drop 20 and 10 as a freshman, some people here said he wasn’t good. Another perfect example on why you can’t give up on guys playing in their first year. Players develop and players get better.

I remember him more and more since making that statement. I remember being on the fence about him, I was impressed with him at times, he had some good games as a freshman off the bench. Back in those days (3 years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), I don't think it was so much people saying to get rid of him, as much as people were saying recruit over him.

If it happened today, then yes, you might have heard people harping about letting him go into the portal. I do believe he was significantly better than many of the people on our current roster, in terms of talent, ability, polish, etc, however.

Agree likes him as well. Plus athlete and size for his position. A better version of Malik IMO.

Delroy still playing. Ulmer still playing. Will Daniels still playing. I'm sure Jimmy could still hoist a couple if needed. IDK the roster size though, and I would assume Rell is going to grab the guys he was with during the Hurley years - so that list above is pretty accurate I would guess.

Isn't Cuttino still playing in the Big 3? No idea what the rules are for participation, or if the times sync up... But a team featuring Odom and Mobley would certainly grab some attention. Not sure how successful they'd be at this age but...

CFL never missed a Final Four back when he was coaching here.

Remember that shot of him sitting baseline when Kansas(?) hit the buzzer beater shot to win?

It's when the national coaches conference is every year. Archie should be there I imagine.

He wasn't cranky. Jim Baron was given a new 10 year contract extension a few years into his stead here. The first time he went to the NIT or whatever.

The reality at that moment was, this guy "is going to be here for the REST OF MY LIFE".

Hence, Coach for Life. Not Baron's life.

You devote your entire adult existence to URI Basketball and get sent to purgatory for all of your effort.

If I recall it was whatever year Va Tech came sniffing around - gave him that super deal, then Va Tech hired Seth Greenberg instead.

Yep, the Hokies. It was more like rumored interest. After the fact, I remember thinking, did VTech really want Baron, or did they just do him a solid by making URI panic and adjust his contract and that was the real goal the entire time?

Probably, Reef. Although, he could go later in the 2nd, I think - depending on how strong this draft is ( I have no idea how strong it is at this time ).

Other than that, maybe he gets a two way contract with an NBA team. I think he could be a solid defender on the NBA level as he has the length and athleticism for that role, I think. However, on the offensive end, I don’t think that part of his game is NBA caliber yet. Maybe his offensive game can get to NBA level if he really works at it.

There was some talk of Toppin joining St John's and Pitino

He is ready to move on from Kentucky.
He will play G-League if he doesn't catch on with an NBA Team
Very, very doubtful he goes in the 2nd round.
But he will likely get invited to nba summer league play
