It’s really really hard to like Carey. He hits some clutch shots but my god is he a turnover machine.
Hahaha blame Carey. He only hit l the go ahead shot.
How about blaming Archie for calling the dumbest timeout of all time?
Holy shit dude, you’re focusing on a single decision the coach made. What about VCU going on an 11-1 run or whatever the fuck it was that got them back into the game?

Their #35 was worse than anyone that's played in Mackal this year. That's all I have tonight after that ending
You must have missed the game where he single handedly beat Dayton and couldn’t miss from three. He’s a really good shooter but our scout was all over him he had zero clean looks.
Yeah, I didn't watch that game. I saw the game tonight where he had multiple clean looks and didn't get the ball near the net. Our scout and defense had nothing to do with his suck

That single decision could not have been worse.
Everyone in my section was like what the fuck?
Zero reason to call that. Zero.
What timeout are you even referring to? As if a called timeout could lose you a game but i’ll entertain the notion.

Reactions to this one are weird here
No issue with that timeout call this is an undermanned team that needs lots of coaching. This isn’t the type of team you let play bc they have been there done that.
You have to live with the TOs from Carey and Ish bc they are going to have force things a lot especially in end of shot clock situations. Carey had his usual 2-3 lack of focus ones that are killers but he also is a big reason we are even in the game.
Team fought hard and deserved that one I feel bad for the locker room. Kid hit a tough shot with a hand in his face.
These type of high school score, rock fights is going to be what it looks like in any game we keep competitive. We simply don’t have enough offense to put on the floor.

The timeout after Leggett hit the go ahead FT.
VCU called a TO after the first FT.
Archie should’ve set up his defense when VCU called that timeout.

That was 1 shot away from Ramster being prophetic in how he thought the game would go. Thomas was solid, the ball def moved better and our defense was much much better.
What are you talking about. He kept saying our offense would be better and we scored 54. Were you watching tonight?

Sorry, but this is such a dumb thing to be harping on. That timeout had no bearing on the outcome of the game.

Uhhh it did?
Gave VCU another chance to set
Up another play, relax and not be in a rush.
If Archie didn’t call that TO, VCU would’ve been in a hurry taking it out after the make.

He also said the ball movement would be better. It was.
He said Thomas would perform and he even went out on a massive limb to say he would hit threes. He did. Don’t recall him saying we would hang 70 on them bc that was never going to happen.

FUCK Archie Miller for that timeout. Inexcusable.
IDIOT.
Rhoades literally just called a timeout. Set up your defense then Archie.
NOBODY should be defending that timeout.
Archie Miller had one player on that floor that would get minutes on VCU, and we lost at the buzzer. He coached his ass off. He wasn't perfect, I agree, but I thought he had the guys locked in and had a great gameplan.

Ehh there were 4 seconds left which whether you call a TO or not is plenty of time to get the ball to a guard and for them to get up the court in shooting range. Which is what happened. Making a mountain out of a mole hill on that one. With or without a TO they were going to get a shot similar to that either from Ace or Jackson. Calling a TO did not lose that game. 17 turnovers did.

By the way, I’m too lazy to scroll back to see if it was talked about, but in the 1st half I saw Brayon in the student section cheering on the team. I’ve been hard on him the past couple days, but that was kinda nice to see.
We had 4 hoops from the field over the last 10 minutes approximately (including one 3). We had 24 total points in the second half. Can’t expect to win a game doing that - especially against an above average team. Anyway, despite that we had the first place team on the ropes.

Bill Koch tweeted that he was there in the student section.
Part odd part cool.
I have no issue with the TO. Yes, VCU might have rushed and panicked with 4 sec to go, but, an equal, chance we would make a stupid defensive play or foul with from an exhausted team.
My one criticism of Archie was having Carey bringing the ball up during some of the crunch time possessions. Remember one critical dribbling one. Have n idea why not Thomas or Ish not bringing it up during critical times

Same reaction. Kinda weird and too soon after getting kicked off the team.
If we had one big that could catch the ball on offense we win. Multiple perfect passes underneath for possible easy buckets muffed by all 3 bigs, especially Tchikou. He literally struggles every time to catch the ball.. By the way moral victories suck. Still a check mark in the loss column. Effort was certainly there. Need more talent period end.

Yeah… seriously dude. Some really nice passes from Leggett/Bassy that Samb/Tchikou failed to catch.

This game seemed to completely turn around after a fake foul call against Weston on an uncontested offensive rebound that would have resulted in an uncontested put back . how they came up with afoul call when there was no VCU player within three feet of Weston . Does anyone remember that play
and were my eyes deceiving me ? There was no one in front of Weston and the VCU player was two steps behind Weston . Was I hallucinating or is that what happened ? The announcers said there was nothing . If that is what happened that has to have been the most bogus call of all time.
I remember the play. I didn’t think he was even close to anyone so was shocked by a foul call, but without instant replay in the arena I don’t know.

Weston is strong. And he def made contact with the defender but usually not called and just chalked up to guys jockeying for position on a rebound. He didn’t push him per se but def moved him with his body. Prob shouldn’t have been called tho.

The timeout after Leggett hit the go ahead FT.
VCU called a TO after the first FT.
Archie should’ve set up his defense when VCU called that timeout.
No offense but this seems like a pretty insane thing to be so focused on. I’m not even sure it’s a valid criticism at all, but even if it is, it is a very minor nitpick.

Archie explained exactly why he called the timeout.
Then took the blame for the team not executing on his direction.
This is a team that needs to be over coached. The timeout had nothing to do with the loss.
You can’t come back unless you get more shots up and only our 11 2nd half TOs enabled that to happen.

I thought Weston timed his jump perfectly on that rebound after boxing out. From my vantage point they were standing very close together.
Carey giveth and taketh away. He had 3 of our four total hoops over the last quarter of the game, but…
Well, you know.
He is who he is at this point in his final games here. He gave us more than he took away tonight and kept us in the game the last quarter with the hoops.
He can be counted on to put in solid effort on both ends the rest of the season despite his troubled ball handling. I am okay with that.

Wow! That last minute is the most stressed I’ve been at a home game in over 3 years!
I had no issue with the time out…especially given the shot that VCU ultimately took. If you told me VCU was going to end up with anything but a layup or dunk I would take it. They made a jump shot. That was probably only the 3rd or fourth jumper they made in the entire game. Give Jackson credit. He made the shot.
On a side note…The look on Blue Man’s face after Bassey’s second three was worth the price of admission!
Carey had 4 turnovers. Ish had 5. Just pointing that out.
Ish had 21 pts, Carey had 13 pts. Just pointing that out
And Carey had more rebounds and assists. I love Ish. That's not my point. I don't get all of the Carey bashing.
The Carey bashing comes from his consistent problem with turnovers. How many times a game does he literally dribble it off of his own foot or throw the ball 10 feet in the air?

He is what he is. He's not a ball handler. But with the make up of this team, he is forced to handle the ball much more than he should. What do you suggest we do instead?
