Reef, I can’t watch. It is depressing. The talent and level of play between the two teams and us is too glaring.

SJU spanking the leg humpers at UConn by 14 very late in the 2nd half. I expect that The leg humper fans will be nipping at DH’s ankles. They don’t look happy at all after dropping to 4-4 ( incl 3 or 4 losses in a row ) in conf.

Because Dan can't coach a competent offense.

Bet you weren’t saying that when they were #2 in the country.

Low hanging fruit saying that when they’re in a slump.

Yeah actually I was

When they were number 2 they were still playing simple ass ball screen iso bs with crappy ball movement. Then you had a good defensive team like PC go and completely shut them down and they looked totally lost jacking up contested jumpers just like here.

It's not that it's bad, but it's just his weakness. He doesn't coach an elite offense.

PRT, I have not followed UConn closely so I don’t know if you are correct. But, that was a well thought out and presented post.

Good cbb talk.

They are slumping (losing 3 or 4 in a row). Dan has some work to do to turn them around and playing like a National Champion threat.

They also don’t have a competent PG and that makes any offense look predictable and stagnant.

Yeah I mean it's just like watching his teams here pretty much. Same style of play.

You're gonna see great defense....the offense not exactly pretty.

Not sure offense is UConn’s biggest problem right now. They just let the Johnnies hang 84 on them at home. They’ve allowed 1.1+ points per possession in only four games this year… all losses.

Uconn defense was poor also. St John's had layup after layup during much of the 2nd half. They will start winning again though they've played their toughest stretch of their league schedule already.

Early this season they were highly regarded because they had 9 guys all contributing. Depth players all making an impact.

During this skid it’s more or less reverted back to the Sanogo/Hawkins show, with Karraban and clingan chipping in here or there.

Also, if you listen to a uconn game they act like Andre Jackson is god. He’s been disappointing to me. Averages 6ppg, 6 rpg and 4 Apg. Sure, nice to have a player that’s a Swiss Army knife, but they need him to be a better scorer than he is

I wonder who they look at if they part with Ewing?

Asked the question in the Coaching Carousel thread to avoid going off topic here.

It seems there are no games that are of interest to me these days. My interest in college basketball is at or near an all time low. The state of Rhody hoops and recent changes in college basketball and its overall direction have very much reduced my passion in the game.

And sometimes, you just need someone to come along and suggest something else to pick you up.
I'm here for you. Let me introduce to you, the New York Football Giants....

There are still some interesting games, i.e., ACC teams that suck, but...could beat ACC teams that are good, and weasel into the tourney.

I suggest sticking with the Big 12, at least for now. Besides Kansas and Kansas St, there’s Iowa St and TCU. I think Texas is a bit overrated, but still a top 25 team. No truly awful teams in the league.

Blowing a 15 point lead UConn lost tonight at Seton Hall, 67-66. Danny Hurley was not present at game due to testing positive for Covid. The game was co-coached by Tom Moore and Luke Murray. This follows on the news in UConn's annual reporting to the NCAA that UConn Athletics deficit rose to $53 million in 2022 which included the $13.4 million they had to pay former coach, Kevin Ollie.

Ny Giants fan - please have mercy for me. Bad enough getting severely depressed twice a week with our team, but then, as a lifelong suffering Jets fan, Any NY Giants success is almost too much to bear.

Please have mercy!! -

There was a funny little tidbit on the Ceighton university blog. Just days before the PC Creighton game Ed Cooley announced that Bynum could not play because of a muscle injury.Fans were wondering why Ed didn't try to cancel the whole game

Here's another example of college basketball not making any sense

Tonight 18th ranked 19-1 Charleston is playing at 1-17 Monmouth

Now it's not over but

Monmouth leads 39-35 with 14 minutes left

Not bad timing for them and the AAC since they are joining that conference along with 5 other C-USA teams next season.
Also North Texas part of that addition is currently 2nd in C-USA and has a solid program.

He’s now averaging 6.7 points, shooting 36% from the field and 37.9% from 3.

Don’t think he’ll be having high major interest in the portal like many here thought.

What? Where did a single poster in KB say “Chance Stephens would have high major interest in the portal?”. I don’t recall anyone even saying he even had any interest in transferring?

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Cam Shelton banked in a go-ahead runner with 13 seconds left and Loyola Marymount snapped No. 6 Gonzaga's 76-game home winning streak with a 68-67 victory Thursday night.

The home streak for the Bulldogs (16-4, 5-1 West Coast Conference) had been the eighth longest in Division I history. It included a Nov. 20 win over Kentucky in a neutral-site game at Spokane Arena, which the NCAA considered a home game for Gonzaga.

Shelton scored 27 points to lead the Lions (14-7, 4-3), who hadn't won in Spokane since 1991 and had lost 25 straight to the Zags.

Who said high major? I think I was the most bullish, and all I said was that I'd think a lot of schools would try to pry him from Loyola Marymount. I thought LM was more of a low-major than mid-major, so I guess that could be taken as saying that a high major would be the option by default, but otherwise, it's not like people were calling him the second coming of Reggie Miller. He's pretty clearly a 3-point specialist, and good teams always need another shooter. URI was happy to have Four for a year. It's pretty easy to look at his skills - he was shooting 40+ percent from 3, and he's still at 36 percent - and project it on another team. He would definitely be helpful on our team, because he would have allowed us to space the floor better. It's not like we should have retained Cox because of it, but for all of that coaching staff's flaws, they did accurately scout and recruit Stephens.

Saw someone say Maryland, along with P5, kid is gonna get a bag, etc.

High major and P5 (really P6) are the same to me.

One guy said maybe he follows his coach to Maryland. That's hardly going out on a limb. He's a freshman shooting 37.9 percent from 3, and while he sucked against Gonzaga, plenty of players suck against them. He hit 5 treys the previous game against San Diego. Again, I doubt he's some all-world talent, but he has a skill set that's pretty much always desired by good teams. If he wants to transfer to a better school than LM, he probably can - maybe not Maryland, but someone would be interested. I don't think this is some radical statement.

Sometimes things are said in the moment and/or in jest. 15 doesn’t seem to always consider that possibility when compelled to respond for reasons only known to him. But, to be fair, I sometimes miss it, too.

At the end of the day, it really isn’t important what he thinks or I think. We are just fans on a fan board with varying levels of interest.

If he wants to transfer to a better school than LM, he probably can - maybe not Maryland, but someone would be interested. I don't think this is some radical statement.
I"m not sure if you know this, but you have to clarify that you don't think a player is the next Michael Jordan, or you get accused of overhyping them if you say anything positive.

It's not a radical statement at all... He had a red-hot start to the season, and teams are always looking for shooters. It makes sense that better programs may pursue him if he was to transfer. It also makes sense that an assistant coach who is very close with his family may offer him.

GW knocks off Dayton. Probably not a good sign for us on Wednesday! (not that I was anticipating us beating Dayton anyway)

Brendan Adams with 18 points and 8 boards for GW.

Man, this conf is bad this year. Woof! Woof!

Maybe bad is good? Keeps the P6 from poaching good players. Yea, that’s the strategy.

I didn't even read all the way through it, but dang, I can picture him spewing that Ish in a Joe Pesci Goodfellas voice....
Someone needs to start laffing in one of his pressers and have Martin step off to the side and say, "You think I'm funny...like a clown?"
(I still think he's got a player punch in him)

Imagine your some pencil necked stat geek working in a high rise in Boston after graduating with a degree from UMess. You spent part of the weekend bitching about your alma maters mbb team. And, now it’s Monday morning and your settled at the desk in your small cube and the receptionist comes over and says, a Mr.
Frank Martin is here to see you and he doesn’t look too happy. You may want to sneak out the back door.
