Rhody has a winning record of 3-2 versus BC at Conte Forum having won the last two games there. URI has also won the last two games played at any site between the schools and own a 6-4 record against the Eagles in the last thirty years despite having just three home games (BC hosted five and two were neutral sites in the last two seasons).

Hopefully a nice early start time for that BC game to make it easy to get up and back. No conflict with the Patriots either, they play on Thursday night that week

Can't wait to beat them again.
I like your optimism, but they will probably be heavily favored at home against us.

They return their top 3 scorers and 4 starters from last season.
7-footer Quinten Post will be a handful for us along with the Langford brothers.

They also had a strong recruiting class.

Time will tell if Earl Grant will have any success there.

Last season they did win their first 2 ACCT games and only lost by 2 points to Miami in the 3rd round.
Yeah and our dog shit team last year beat them twice.

That was early last season, Earl Grant (his 1st as HC of BC) had them playing much better at the end of 21-22.

I hope we can pull off a victory here, but I am not expecting much this year.

Again, I am tempering all expectations with our new and very young roster.

BC doesn't draw well for any OOC games. Their fans for the most part only show up for the big name ACC opponent games in January and February.

Even with an attractive home schedule every season (with the likes of UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Miami, Virginia, etc...) due to its ACC affiliation, BC has for the last decade usually trailed URI in average attendance.

There is no official has to be finalized date. The earliest date possible is however desired to give more time to sell tickets. URI however is usually not putting schedules together from a position of strength. This is the norm for a school that is outside the power conferences but still poses a potential loss danger. It is therefore common for Rhody to be working on the schedule long after many other teams have released theirs.

For reference, this is when the OOC schedules were announced for the past five seasons:

2021-22 August 19th
2020-21 September 28 (released incomplete due to Covid - no fans that season)
2019-20 July 29 incomplete with 1 game left / September 11 complete
2018-19 June 8
2017-18 September 6

If this game is happening, which I doubt, it will either be a secret scrimmage (which obviously makes no sense when honoring teams) or an exhibition. Temple released their out of conference schedule and we're not on it:

https://owlsports.com/news/2022/7/14/me ... c-pairings

I'd love it if we played a game a year in Keaney, either an exhibition or a game when students are on break so you're expecting a small crowd, but it's been said for years that Keaney couldn't host a game for reasons

I think his comment of “Let me dream” is an indication it is wishful thinking on his part.

The lead sentence, however, states "Rumor has it". Given that RV attempts to be a credible source of news of interest to the RI fanbase, this is somewhat irresponsible. Perhaps a lead of: Sitting here dreaming....wouldn't it be nice if....etc. would have been more appropriate.

Yes, for Rhody Vault to even begin the tweet "Rumor has it" makes no sense and quite irresponsible on his part.

Good reason why Rhody Vault may feel that Shane and the staff has distanced themselves from him.

URI would never move a game against old conference mate Temple that also honored the 1988 and 1998 teams with number retirements to Keaney from the Ryan Center. Keaney is far too small and the school would never sacrifice the potential revenues with a large crowd for such a game with all that would surround it.

On a side note, I would love a H&H series versus Temple. The Owls are starting a series with VCU this season and have had a series with UMass since leaving the A-10 back in 2013. Rhody has had recent series with other teams (Houston, SMU) from its current conference so it should be a very reasonable possibility.

22, unless I am missing something I believe we still have 2 OOC games to schedule (already included Milw.)
The SH game had been postponed again and we are allowed 13 OOC games for a total of 31.

Seton Hall released their non-conference schedule and as expected we're not on it. Their schedule release does not mention if our game has been pushed back or canceled. I'm going to go under the assumption it was merely pushed back until it's announced otherwise

We should take into consideration that the H&H series was established under a different SHU coach and maybe Holloway wanted to schedule a bit differently in his first season there so he asked to postpone again.

It could be worse. How would you feel if your team, a member of a much higher profile conference than the A-10 and coming off a Sweet-16 appearance, was hosting Rider, Merrimack, Stonehill, and Albany with the yet to be announced opponents thought to be of the same caliber? That is what the URI home opponent that you did not list is providing its fans for the early months of the OOC schedule.
