Doesn't call it out - but they're similar ages and they both hail from Queens, went to Cardozo.

AWESOME!

Besides his coaching experience, I just read that he graduated from BC with a degree in Marketing. That can't hurt.

Pretty cool stuff , played @ BC from New York so should have plenty of East Coast recruiting connections hopefully. I also wonder if he’s the top assistant or # 2

Only negative is Halloway coming on at Seton Hall as probably the most anticipated hire of the off-season, plus Willard going to MD, means the likelihood of a player transferring from Seton Hall to Rhode Island is probably pretty low.

While I agree with your statement, I am far more concerned with creating pipelines for future years so that we have continued growth. If Austin can recruit New England, and Woodward can Recruit NYC Metro, that is a fantastic start.

I must be getting old if you guys don't remember who Duane Woodward was.

He was a star at BC when they were actually really good.

Great hire.

Feel the same. Surprised people didn’t remember him or the link to a former Ram his bro. He was very good at BC. And both he and his brother were high IQ players which translates so well to coaching. I also was impressed with improvement from a few diff SHU players over the years - article mentions Rhoden but also Cale really improved and Shavar Reynolds went from a walk on to a BE starter. Not sure how much Brian had to do with that.

Regardless a great hire - their names are legendary in NYC hoops circles from famed Cardozo. Did Lamar also spend 1 of his years there? I forget, might have been CTK.

He wanted Skinn and Cox more? Skinn was hired away from him the year before, and Maryland has to recruit the DMV well to keep everyone happy. With his playing time at BC (when they did not suck) and his recruiting connections to the NYC area, he can do well at a school in Rhode Island if Shaheen wants to bring in his guys.

Good point. I agree with you on that. Definitely him to the left forsure. Wonder why he wouldnt have announced he is coming back before participating in a practice session. Unless he is just working out.

I was a little nervous that if Hobbs went to LaSalle, that Rutgers may go after Woodward for the assistant's opening.
