I just checked out the Boneyard for a few laughs. They all want Hurley fired. Lol.
I just did the same thing. Their fans were real upset. Some of them put fault on the players, but the majority are questioning if Hurley should be their coach

It was a great call by Jans.

And the foul by Sanogo on the Teddy Allen 3P attempt with about 4 minutes left was ugly with NM State up 55-54. Why is Sanogo at 6'9" 240 lbs out at the 3P line trying to block Allen's shot? Can't foul Allen there as it's an automatic 3 made FTs.

Imagine being in the NCAA tourney, nationally ranked at year end, and wanting to fire your coach. I get that two first round exits back-to-back are frustrating, but how dumb can you be.

This is why the power five want a separate tourney from the mid majors. But, this is what makes the tournament great! Love the upsets!!!!

It's not dumb really, it's UConn. 1st round exits won't cut it, they expect Final 4s and championships. Can't exactly say they're wrong to have that standard either.

Since 99 they have:

4 Championships
5 Final Fours
7 Elite Eights
8 Sweet Sixteens

Hell, they fired the last guy 2 years removed from a national title. It's what some here said when Dan jumped, he better be sure because the expectations are a whole new level and they won't be happy with just being in the tournament

The defensive plan to control Teddy Allen was not very effective as he went for 37 points and only 2 turnovers. He got to the FT line way too much.

You did call it 77, all the way back to last summer. New Mexico State is solid. Could make the Sweet 16 and further.
Yeah Ramster, thought they had a pretty solid roster and a damn good coach.
I was disappointed that JH didn't enroll, not sure what happened.

Definitely a setback for DH the trajectory was there getting them to a big dance in year 3 then being top 25 in year 4 but gonna be a long offseason after going 1 and done

He did Reef,
and Jersey77 had talked about Teddy Allen being good last summer as well. I liked the way the Coaching Staff was all dressed up in Suits for the game - they all looked great and professional. Jans was so well spoken at the half-time and post game interviews. That team can go places in this year's tournament.

Vermont giving all Arkansas can handle. Could end up being yet another upset.

13-seed Akron is beating 4-seed UCLA 26-25 at the half.

The call to fire a coach or least question that coach's ability to win after multiple early exits happens with pretty much every team, every sport, major college or pro. There are few exceptions to this. And regular season success is meaningless to these fans. A lot of it is instant reaction, frustration, disappointment and wanting to blame someone for their team losing but when you take a step back it's just plain silly. Hurley could've gone 30-4, won the Big East Tournament, gotten the #1 seed and had they gone down to the 8/9 winner guaranteed the lynch mob would've been out.

Bad news for Creighton in their victory over SDSU.
It looks like they lost their starting center Kalkbrenner (BE defensive POY) with a leg injury.

They have been unlucky, earlier losing PG Nembhard to a broken wrist.

Creighton had a massive height advantage of Watson, and SDSU’s pace doesn’t fit into Watsons game. Both bad matchups for him.

Holloway reminded me so much of Tom Penders- smiling at his team when the game was on the line and keeping his players loose. Combined that attribute with a sternness when it was needed.

I was not a big Holloway supporter at the beginning of our search, but, now agree that he will also be a special coach at a bigger venue.

Holloway will have a big pay day coming very soon.
Holloway was my pick if the Miller rumor or any of the other pipe dream picks (Mack Crean) weren’t happening. But it’s Miller time.

If Willard goes to Maryland which he would be crazy to do would think Hollaway would be their first call.

Hurley could've gone 30-4, won the Big East Tournament, gotten the #1 seed and had they gone down to the 8/9 winner guaranteed the lynch mob would've been out.
And that would be why people who make judgements on coaching ability based simply on conference tournament and NCAA game results are ridiculous. I guess we can now definitively say...

Holloway better coach than Calipari.
Jans better coach than Danny.
Mooney better coach than McCaffrey.

I guess Ryan Odom is a better coach than Tony Bennett too.

There are Kentucky fans today clamoring to fire Cal lol. All of this just serves to undergird my belief that generally fans don’t know what they’re talking about. Their passion is great and it’s what makes sports fun - they wouldn’t exist in the same way without it. But at the end of the day, you can’t run a winning program on passion alone. These are businesses that require a lot of specialized knowledge in combination with wisdom and practicality to be run successfully. Fans don’t have to take the long view but whoever is actually pushing the buttons really needs to.

There's definitely some valid beef with Cal. More videos in that thread, too. A lot of it looks familiar.....

It's this way in the other sports as well, specifically the NFL. For QBs and coaches. It's annoying and ridiculous.

I don’t think you pay Cal for his tactical acumen. I don’t think of him as being a dummy, but the reason he’s there is because of the players he brings in. If they fired Cal because they wanted better Xs and Os, they would literally make it one recruiting cycle before they were calling for the next guy to be fired.

At the conclusion of the game he was interviewed as he came off the court. Interviewed commented as to how calm he was. He shrugged his shoulders and said it's just a game, it's just basketball. Seems like the calm approach translates over to his players to approach the game to just enjoy it and have fun, enjoy the experience.

I imagined how that would play out here if David Cox had said that, oh wait....................

10 minutes to go it's only Ohio State 37 Loyola 28. Loyola scoring less than a point a minute. Calling this game a rock fight would be insulting to rock fights.
