I agree with those that say this list is fairly underwhelming. I like Boals, but I don't think he's leaving his alma mater to rebuild URI when John Groce and Jim Christian have shown that you can get to a P5 from Ohio U. So, operating as if this is "the list", there are really only three guys I'd want to take a serious look at: Becker, Grasso, Langel.
John Becker, Vermont
Jared Grasso, Bryant
Jeff Boals, Ohio
Shaheed Holloway, St Peters
Bashir Mason, Wagner
Matt Langel, Colgate
King Rice, Monmouth
Robert Jones, Norfolk State
James Jones, Yale

I really hope there is more to the list than just these guys. I would probably take Langel from this list, but wouldn’t feel great about that. None of these guys seem to have any recruiting power or connections.STC wrote: ↑2 years ago I agree with those that say this list is fairly underwhelming. Re: Head coach speculation for 2022-23
How do you know about these guys' recruiting power or connections? They're are at mid-to-lower level Division One schools. Should 4-5 star recruits be choosing St. Peters over Syracuse and Rutgers? Did the great Rick Pitino have great recruits when he started at BU? Jay Wright at Hofstra? Steve Piekell at Stony Brook?RamStock wrote: ↑2 years agoI really hope there is more to the list than just these guys. I would probably take Langel from this list, but wouldn’t feel great about that. Becker has some baggage with the sexual assault stuff going on up at UVM. Not sure why we would want to invite that sort of negative press

I still want an individual with HC experience, period. I have said no OJT for Rhody in this cycle. If this is an up and coming HC elsewhere that does well here and moves on, I can deal with that. Meaning we had some level of success. Going to lay low, watch the process play out. Thanks Thorr……..

You can cross Rick and Hurley's name off.
Weird to see them mentioned and not Archie.
Hopefully Skerry isn't on the short list.
The others I can understand and would add Langel.

I would take Dennis Gates in a heartbeat but his next spot will be higher than URI.

I could live Pitino. WTF, it’s Rhode Island. Why is this a problem. It baffles my mind. We should play to our strengths. Do you want to win or not?

He spent a lot of years close by, where he was the top recruiter at Florida State.

Ah this is it.
There’s been plenty before, but this takes the cake.
This is the post where I’m finally convinced you’re 100000% just a troll, who doesn’t want to provide any substance to the board, and just wants to rile everyone up.

Re: Head coach speculation for 2022-23
I saw this mentioned in another post that there was an article on go local prov about this, which IMO has no credibility. But BAR, have you talked to someone or heard from someone that there is credibility to Richard?
First of all we could do worse but secondly he certainly not a guy you should zero in on there is a lot of room to reach much much higher. My question would be is how tight is friendly is Ryan with Sr?

Re: Head coach speculation for 2022-23
Baron Jr & Tyson we're mentioned by Goodman as possible assistants for whoever the new coach is. Like others have said just get the qualified candidates if they happen to be URI grads that's great. But how about Preston? When is his ban from coaching up? He's still local and a proven recruiter who needs to brand his name again

UConn loses. Gives Thorr a couple of days to negotiate with Kimani Young.

Re: Head coach speculation for 2022-23
you were on the Luke Murray train and then changed it to the Kimani Young one…is that based on his brief 2 minute interim work as HC vs Nova? How did he jump Luke in your mind? He wasn’t even mentioned here once before that Nova game.
