  • The Hawks have a 56-10 advantage in the series. Rhody has won the last two straight contests. Prior to that, St. Joe's won 15 of the previous 17 meetings.
Our history vs St Joseph's shows how quickly and how far our current program under Tammi has come.

URI defeats St Joseph's 58-48.

Last Year's A10 Co POY Tahane led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds
Cairns with 15 points on 5-9 3FGs
Elmore 6 assists and a big 6 rebounds
Foppossi 8 rebounds and Williams with 6 big assists.

Elmore played 38 minutes
Cairns and Foppossi each played 37 minutes
Tahane played 36 minutes
Williams 27 minutes

Hendley 13 minutes at PG with 2 points off the bench - the only bench scoring for the night.

Next up Fordham on Sunday in a huge game for both teams

Fordham beat St Josephs by 20 in NYC on January 25th and only lost by 4 @ Dayton on January 23.

Sunday's Game with Fordham is huge because they are also in the running for an NCAA At-Large Bid. At this time we only play Fordham once this season since our game @ Fordham was postponed back on January 9.

Feb 13 Sun vs Fordham 1pm ESPN+ 60

Fordham beat Princeton NET 29 at home back on Dec 5 (76-67) - our only common OOC opponent

Fordham is led by Junior Anna DeWolfe from Cumberland Maine Greely High School who leads the A10 in scoring at 19.6 ppg
DeWolfe averaged 12.6 mpg her freshman year and 20.8 ppg her sophomore year at Fordham. She averages 38.4 minutes per game this season

Does anyone know what the status is of the game @Fordham and the home game against VCU? Are they going to be made up?

That's up to the A10. Personally I doubt it. Not sure where we would fit another game or two. Plus these games might cause problems with fatigue. A10 Tournament Play starts in less than 3 weeks in Wilmington Delaware.

Feb 16 Wed vs Dayton 6pm - ESPN+ 46
Feb 19 Sat @ Richmond 4pm ESPN+ 142

Great game today- nice crowd boosted by pre game a
Women in Sports clinic at Mackel. Williams is great to watch. It was a shame they couldn’t have shown the replay of her half court shot on the scoreboard.

ESPN named Tammi national coach of the week:

Coach of the Week: Tammi Reiss, Rhode Island Rams
Dawn Staley's No. 1 South Carolina team leads the nation and the SEC, but her former Virginia teammate is doing well, too. Tammi Reiss has the Rams atop the Atlantic 10 at 10-0 after victories this past week against St. Joseph's and Fordham. Meanwhile, VCU's victory over Dayton on Sunday dropped the Flyers to 10-1 in the league. That sets up a showdown Wednesday between the Flyers and the Rams at Rhode Island.

The Rams are 20-3 overall and on a 13-game winning streak. Reiss, now 44-27 in her third season with the Rams, was the A-10 coach of the year last season. She and Staley were standout guards for Virginia from 1988-92, making three Final Four appearances.

I attended my first ever Rhody WBB game yesterday. I brought my oldest 2 daughters (6 yr old twins) to the Girls in Sports Clinic before the game in Mackal. I have to say I was very impressed by both. The clinic was great, my girls loved it. The game was better. This team played great and is fun to watch. The energy that they play with (starts with Coach Reiss) reminds me of the Hurley teams. The point guard can play for my team any day. One of those players you can’t stand if you root for the other team. She’s everywhere and never stops, and a pure point guard. She also took an elbow right above the eye in the first half, left with blood pouring out of it pretty good. Went to the locker room, was back out there a couple minutes later. Their starting 5 play A LOT. Barely any subs. The 4 quarters might help, but I loved it.

After the game the team came out and for an autograph session. It reminded me of my days in Keaney getting autographs in the 80’s/90’s. My girls can’t wait to get back to see another game.

As frustrated as I am with the Men’s team this year, that was such a great experience, one I really needed.

Obviously it would be better to have people in the seats but it might be a nice gesture to buy a ticket even if you don't plan on going. Consider it a donation to the women's team to show appreciation for what they've done so far

She is no longer listed on the roster and last played February 2nd against St. Louis.
She looked to be a good situational player with her size.

This is really just a formality at this point, but provided there are no additional games rescheduled, a win tonight for Rhody mathematically clinches a double-bye in the A-10 Tournament.

Fordham on Sunday was a great crowd with 1,252 for the 1pm game
Wednesday vs Dayton was double that with a record 2,415 for the 6pm game

Who would have thought there would be more people in seats for the WBB Dayton game than for the MBB Dayton game on Monday. Last night was definitely a bigger crowd than Monday

Fun atmosphere

Loved how last night the 103, 104, 105 and 106 sections filled up quickly
Students filled up their lower level section

The advantage of general admission is that people can sit wherever they want so the early arriving fans get the closest and best seats early on. They tend to be a passionate bunch so they are showing enthusiasm from the closest seats from early on.
People can show up with as many people as they want (lots of school age kids) and sit where they want as seats are available.
People can sit with friends, make new friends, sit in different parts of the facility. Seems more relaxed and fun without fixed seats and season ticket holder seats that go empty when people can't make the game. The close knit seating added to the energetic environment.

Crowd seemed boisterous, energetic, happy to be there. A carnival type atmosphere.

The crowd and the game itself were the entertainment.

Pep Band, Ramettes, Cheerleaders, National Anthem Singer - all great.

What a great night. Nice to have the beautiful Ryan Center be utilized by URI WBB so effectively.

Hope nobody in Marketing or Ticket Sales messes with the General Admission, 1 Ticket Price Concept, people sit wherever they want. Leave well enough alone - General Admission is wonderful.

There isn't a reason to mess with it now, but hopefully the program keeps growing to the point where general admission isn't practical and they switch to reserved seats. This year has been great, but it's not the peak, there's still tremendous growth potential here

On Sunday in URI's huge win over Fordham, Kendell Heremaia had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists against URI
Last night, @ UMASS Fordham lost a close game 60-57. Heremaia had 35 of Fordham's 57 points on the night on 11-23 FG and 11-19 3FG plus 11 rebounds for 35 points - Amazing she went from 5 points to 35 just 3 days later. She averages 11 ppg.
Fordham led 36-23 at the half but UMASS outscored Fordham by 20-15 in the 3rdQ and by 17-6 in the 4thQ to get the big win.
Sam Breen with a big game for UMASS with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
