Thorr needs to swing the axe the day after this season ends...in DC on Wednesday or Thursday in the A10's.

My God, Cox is making me wish for the heady days of Baron.

Cox excuse train is rolling.

Jalen Carey sat the whole first half, played excellent the second half, and came out for Leggett when we were up 62-57.

Carey hit a 3, driving layup and single handily was breaking the press when he was in.

Leggett immediately picked up a foul, missed a god awful 3, and we have multiple turnovers because of their press right after that substitution.

We scored one more point, when the game was out of hand.

Leggett is just not a very good basketball player, Carey is CLEARLY better.

Clueless Cox just must not like Carey, there was zero reason for him to come out of the game.

Keep Carey in and the outcome is different.

Some postgame gems from our Fearless Leader:

"We lost but I don't know too many teams that go undefeated."

"We took a huge step today."

"I thought we put up some pretty good numbers today."

"We did have fun competing today."

"I don't think we'll lose any confidence."

"We'll be fine."

Rhody22 wrote: 2 years ago This is embarrassing! What a disgrace! Cox still doesn’t know when to call TOs. His use of players is ridiculous. His refusal to use Walker at the end of games is absolutely mind boggling! A guy that can rebound, score, shoot the 3 and shoot FTs? That would make too much sense.
Walker gave up a tremendous amount of offensive rebounds the second half, that’s the only reason I can think of for him to be sitting towards the end.

I agree with the Thomas part of his quote, though. Let's hope he likes URI enough to stay through a coaching change.

Carey and Walker come out with 4:51 left and a 5-point lead they score 1 point the rest of the way. Cox once again with robotic substitutions. I'm sure he just figured it was time to put the starters back in. I knew at that moment the game was lost.

First of all I'm very irritated with what's going on with program.
Secondly I know him personally though not a close friend
Thirdly , I always cheer me and hope for the best for local kids
Lastly I'm hoping he does well and believe he will do good hopefully it's here,

Didn't mean to call out anyone. I'm usually wrong with my opinion anyway

Thomas' performance was encouraging, but if we're going to crap on the Mitchells for bad shots, we also have to acknowledge that he finished 0-for-8, with 0 points and no FTA. The seven assists are nice, but good teams are just going to play Rajon Rondo defense on him and dare him to shoot jumpers. Definite room for improvement.

That being said, his performance was one of the only bright spots for this friggin' game, and arguably, maybe he doesn't shoot an 0-for if he's not logging 38 minutes. His previous high was 26 against Sacred Heart about a month ago, and in the last five games, he logged between 9 and 14 minutes per game. It's not like Leggett, El-Amin, Martin or Carey were turning the ball over the second they touched it tonight, so it's odd they couldn't get Thomas a tiny bit more of a breather. Or, you know, that Berry logged a DNP, even though Sheppard didn't play.

Walker logged only 20 minutes again.

To give up the leads we had especially at home is pathetic.

In tight games at he end, I am losing all confidence.

Maybe the most moronic uninformed comment I've ever seen but again very good with the pen there's no doubt never put a foot on the court in his life.

When the team melted down, the coach was nowhere to be found. Shameful. Thomas played really well until the last 6-8 minutes. He got zero support from his coach. We needed timeouts in our pocket to stop the bleeding. None were taken. It's a sad state of affairs.

Awesome, everyone had fun. I was wondering about that near the end of the game, 'cause blowing a lead doesn't seem like it would be that much fun. As long as that didn't suck any of the fun out of it for anyone...hey, a great day, right?

It’s real simple. When Twan is in the game he creates spacing. Ya know who is better with more spacing? The Mitchell that is in the game along with Ish, Ish, Jalen and Thomas. It’s not harder than that. He makes our offense better even if he’s not scoring bc you have to cover him out to the line. You don’t have to cover either Mitchell outside 12-15 feet. That’s why they can’t play together!!! This isn’t that hard.

I know this is tickets sold and we have been through this before, but I wonder if there are even 6,295 people on earth that cared about the URI game at this point let alone in the Ryan Center! The place will have tons of social distancing in place going forward.

There's something comical about how robotic Cox's postgame pressers have become. It's like the Last Days of Dan Duquette after yet another late-season Red Sox collapse:

My God, Cox is making me wish for the heady days of Baron.

Cox excuse train is rolling.
I'm projecting Tuesday, March 15th, maybe the day before. I'm sure Thorr won't want firing Cox to be a story during the conference tournament so he'll wait until it's over

"Compete" and "have fun"

My brother and I never even used that terminology to each other while playing NHL 95 on Sega. That was complete do or die!
I swear by NHL94 on Genesis. Great times.
You know what, thanks for that as the appropriate reference. It was definitely NHL 94 because based on what grades my brother and I were in, it was definitely 94! Absolutely the greatest of times.

NHL 94 bonded a generation. Where you could do the same wrap around the net move and score every time.

Alexander Mogilny and Jeremy Roenick were my go to guys in that game. Unstoppable.

I agree that Carey should be playing more, but I don't think it's fair to say Ish is not a good player. Ish has had plenty of good moments as a Ram. He's just having a typical sophomore slump. Carey had one of the worst seasons I ever witnessed last season, and now he's become one of the best players off our bench. Ish is missing shots he hit last year. He's clearly in his head like Carey was last year.. I still have faith he'll be an important piece of our future if he ends up staying..
