We gave them enough shots at the end but La Salle is La Salle.

LaSalle gets 3 shots on their last trip down the floor but fails to hit a shot. That was a fugly win.

We played horrible. Luckily Lasalle is very bad… Another meaningless win. I loved seeing Ish hit that game winner though

Way to gut it out after just an abysmally 1st half and some how fine a way to win. Destroy the tape. On to GW

That team almost beat Bonaventure, just glad we got a win. We played the worst game of the season and still some how survived.

Not for nothing and I do think Bonnies are a decent team, but they have not lived up to the pre-season hype to date.

Good teams can win when they stink at all facets of the game. This was a let down game after the great game at UMASS. Thomas has to work on his FTs. For some reason, they had no legs tonight.

This is the nightmare scenario. Games like tonight where we play down to the competition, games where we give up huge leads, not a single good win on the ledger, but the record looks great if you're looking at things only superficially. This is what happens when you play in a weak conference and you let the coach schedule for his benefit and not the program's

Re: 1/19 | La Salle | 7:00PM (YurView/ESPN+)
Yes PeteRI that is correct 9-22 from the line . Well , it was 3 -16 at one point which is worse tan a bad Elementary team shoots. not sure what happened , whether it was a lack of concentration or lack of will against an inferior team . On the very plus side if you want to look at the positive ( And that is
singular because there weren't any other positives ) URI play extremely intense defense for the final 5 minutes or so to totally shut down Lasalle .
There were some terrible shots taken and head scratching easy misses in the final misses . One of the Mitchells took a bad jumper and the point blank miss by Walker nearly cost them the game . Leggett's basket should have been called goal tending if it had missed because Lasalle had a player put his hand inside the net . They avoided disaster tonight and live to fight another day.

How about that stretch where Walker missed that reverse lay up, played matador defense, Makhel took an early in the shot clock 20 foot jumper and then one of the twins threw the ball five feet over the others head?
That sequence was actually worse than the color commentary

I don't see with this team and after last season, how a tough OOC schedule would of benefited our program.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑2 years agoThis is the nightmare scenario. Would it of helped by constantly getting destroyed by top teams, I don't think we were ready for that this season.
Yes it would have been nice to play SH but that didn't happen.
The A10 is still considered a top 10 conference.
Not sure how many mid-major conferences you feel are better, maybe only a very small handful.
I think our schedule will be much improved next season.

Winning is all that matters for some, but that will be rectified and soon.
3-16 from the line is beyond belief.
Embarrassing isn't a strong enough word.
So much for improvement....
Cox really had his team ready to play tonight!

If we go 8-6 the rest of the way, that's 20 wins.
That would make Baron's 20 win seasons look great by comparison.
At least when he won 20 games, we usually went to the NIT.
Not a chance we go there this year even with that.

Would not like to be in the film room watching this performance.
Hopefully this game serves as a wakeup call.

3-16 from the line is NOT coaching. Winning the game despite that might be. Didn’t give up, increased defensive pressure in second half, rode players for the few minutes they were playing well. I’m not upset with Cox tonight.rambone 78 wrote: ↑2 years ago Winning is all that matters for some, but that will be rectified and soon.

What did I just watch….
Quite possibly the worst basketball game played since the Baron days.
We play any other team and we lose by 20.

Two best plays in my opinion, mitchel twin to the basket for a two hand poster slam, and Carey’s crazy reverse layup with English. That kid is the definition of a slasher.

Cox did not call a timeout until 1:20 left in the second half.
That is absolutely unheard of, and I can guarantee you no other D1 coach has waited till then to call one.
We won, but that’s kind of inexcusable to not call one till then.

An ugly win is better than an ugly loss.. and man that was an ugly win.. poor e z buckets trying to get the fans going.. might help if the team can give us a reason to get loud.. do like being able to zip out of the parking lot and get home in less than an hour.. that's my positive take on tonight's game.

He didn't even use his use it or lose it first half timeout.. don't get it. Especially as flat as they were playing. Will give him some credit for half time adjustments.. defense much more intense and actually switched it up a little a couple of times defensively in second half

If there ever was a player who needed to see a few outside shots go in it was Jalen Carey.
