We're on to Maine. Lost two games in a row by a combined score of 72-7? Doesn't matter, we're on to Maine.

Even after the ugliness of the last two weeks, we're still 5-2 with a 3-2 conference record, we're still ranked in both polls, and we still have a good shot at the playoffs if we can turn things around Saturday.

Here's our remaining schedule:

Maine (2-3/3-4)
at UMass (1-6)
New Hampshire (2-2/3-4)
at no votes/T 42 Elon (3-1/4-3)

I've said the last two weeks haven't been must wins, but I think Maine is a must win. Yeah, we can lose to Maine, then win out and have 8 wins and no 8 win CAA team has missed the playoffs since the expansion, but I don't want to go into the last game at Elon needing a win to get to 8 and I don't think 7 wins gets us in to the playoffs unless the committee gives Thorr a favor in honor of his service to the committee.

So it's that simple. Beat Maine and stop the bleeding, give URI fans a reason to travel up to the UMass game, and get back on the playoff track

We have a a lot of injured players, especially on offense. Defensive coordinator has been a disappointment. 0
Pass rush, players out of position (receivers are wide open) and our DBs spend most of the game running on and off the field…too many substitutions. Add the missed tackles and dropped interceptions. That’s how you give up 40+ and 500yrs.

UMass has no passing game, their running back will carry the ball 25+ times for 200yrds.

Agreed. We’ve been starting flat all season, even against Bryant. Slow starts have finally caught up with us. We’re now spotting teams 21 points before we wake up.

I question if we even have the talent healthy enough to win 1 more game. We certainly will be at a coaching disadvantage.

So much potential squandered. Three straight losses by a combined score of 117-31 or an average of 39-10. There would have been no shame in going 1-2 over the last three game stretch if the two losses had been competitive, but we haven't been competitive in any of the three games except for one 10 minute stretch in the second half against Maine.

I don't see the way forward at this point for the program. Fleming has clearly brought in the most talent we've gotten on a consistent basis since probably when Floyd Keith was head coach here, but we're still 9-16 in the CAA since 2018, which was his fifth year here. Besides, does anyone have any clue what his contract extension looks like? It was never announced by the school and was never reported on by the ProJo or Independent

We just won our 7th game for the first time since 2001

How in the moment that I said that can anyone who knows anything about this program blame me?

It's still absolutely pathetic that we lost those three games the way we lost them when we obviously had no business playing that poorly.
