Tough road game for URI . Towson was picked 7th preseason, URI 6th.

Towson so far:

• @ Morgan State won 31-0

• @ UNH Lost 14-26. UNH was picked 5th A10 preseason

• Vs North Dakota State Lost 7-35

• @ FBS San Diego State Lost 21-48. San Diego State

currently ranked #25 AP FBS Poll at 5-0.

• Vs Stony Brook Won 21-14. Stony Brook picked 10th A10 preseason

I don't remember a time in my life where I was checking the football board more than basketball - but here we are.

Absolutely feels like a must win, especially with a road date at Nova looming. Hopefully they're not looking ahead to that game.

A couple of landmines do loom ahead, but Rhody is going to be in a unique position for us which is being the hunted. Not used to seeing a low teens number next to our name, so we're going to get everyone's best shot.

Can't wait for Saturday.

We need two wins for about a 50/50 playoff shot, 3 to pretty much clinch.

Yes, Towson is probably our second easiest game left, so it would be good to get it under our belt, but I wouldn't call it a must win, or necessary, or however you want to phrase it. For instance, if we split these next two, it would be much better for us to lose to Towson and beat Villanova as opposed to the other way around. The nice thing about this start is it gives us a lot of options to get at least two more wins as opposed to hunting for them down the stretch to stay in the playoff picture

BUT what is the NCAA rules on this? I’m sure everything was cleared and given the go ahead but would this be a form of a gift? Kraft said he paid for everything and Rhody didn’t have to use any of there budget money.

Just was thinking about it. If Rhody keeps winning this could be maybe a yearly thing.

Fleming has to stop settling for punts and field goals (the all-time points leader went wide right again). That 1980’s coaching philosophy is coming back to bite us in the butt. The OC struggled to come up with anything creative. Towson ran trick plays and went wildcat to score.

That opening drive was a killer. Botched snap, penalty and then the big one was Woods dropping that pass right in his hands. That had the chance to be a big gainer and at worse a first down and some confidence for the O. Frimpong dropped a couple as did Warren though his was justified with that hit. Hill has struggled but it doesn’t seem like our WRs create much separation. They also seemed to get a lot of pressure on Hill whereas we barely ever got to their QB. We weren’t going undefeated so now we see what the team is made of as they head to Nova.

Let's be honest here. I know it is a great story to have a program that has been one of the worst out there in football to be breaking thru at 5-0 and everyone is talking about it, but we aren't that good. People have said even if we get 4 loses we are getting in the playoffs-cmon. What wins do we have of significance so far? The breaks have gone URI's way so far. The coach has done a great job up to this point, but this team is going to lose several more games including Villanova but a lot. This is the kind of game you have to win to make the playoffs. Overall it has been a successful season for URI, but i would be surprised if they make the playoffs. There is an opportunity to lose any of the remaining games on the schedule especially Villanova and Elon.

I'm not sure it would be any different in the NCAA's eyes than a booster paying for a charter, which has been allowed. I think because it's not a direct gift to the athlete it's fine, and that's not even taking into account the loosening of rules due to NIL
