It would have been nice to have students on campus for a Dayton game. La Salle, GW, and St. Joe’s are the others that fall over winter break.

I agree with you Ace about the importance of students being on campus for games. A big part of our home court advantage is taken away. Hopefully, the students can show up for our first three home games. The more winning we do in December might improve attendance.

The Ryan Center also is somehow mandating masks for an upcoming concert.

Yea, making drunk college kids wear masks after not going to a concert in two years seems like a great idea. I can’t see there being any problems with that at all.

Good luck to security that night.

If Covid transmission remains high in RI, URI should limit attendance at basketball games. Mask wearing is just an added precaution. Vaccination provides protection from getting seriously sick. You can still get the virus and transmit it to others even if you are asymptomatic. College basketball is not that important. Unless you have some medical condition that prevents you from getting vaccinated, not getting vaccinated is a selfish decision. Let's quit the niceties and call it what it is.

So the vaccine is not a vaccine? More like a flu shot? Maybe you get it, maybe you don't? And if you do, it's not as bad? Pffffft.

No need to get out the ketchup. There is no chance of having over 6,200 in attendance with masks, a very weak schedule and a middle of the pack team.

As I said, those who could get the vaccine and don't are selfish people, they can't see beyond how it affects themselves. They are not smart enough to understand or care how viruses mutate. This fits the profile.

Based on this comment, you also do not understand how viruses mutate. It’s less likely the virus will mutate if vaccinated, but if one can get it after vaccination, then it can mutate. As long as it exists that is the case.

With the postponement of the Polo concert, it appears the regular attendance at URI basketball games will not happen until the pandemic subsides, This is my projection of where things are going.

If Covid is the reason for the postponement, then why is the Stephen Colbert show at Ryan on October 2 as part of Homecoming still on?

Probably because some portion of that whopping $70 ticket price is revenue for the school.

I think that's still cheaper than the filthy rapper, isn't it?

No idea. I’m nowhere close to his target demographic.

Man, less than 2 months until the season and only 1-2 threads posted in daily it seems.

Obviously, a lot more important things in the world have been going on that have peaked people’s interests. But still, I would’ve thought there’s be more activity this close to the season.

So little interest in this program just a few years after back to back tourney appearances.

Let’s hope we get back to that soon enough!
