The BC job is open now, it will not be open in a year from now.

He's not leaving that situation. It reminds me of Hurley with his core guys here. They are all coming back to finish what they started. There will always be opportunities for good coaches.

Who knows? He's 58....maybe he's happy finishing his career there.

I agree though, I think he stays another year to see it through....then maybe leaves.

They should be as good or better next season, then he'll have his pick for higher level jobs.

Tough call for sure does he go to his Alma mater for more cash and a major rebuild or come back for a preseason top 25 team

In my personal opinion, gotta take the opportunity when it comes, can't think they will always be there later, ESPECIALLY when it is your alma mater.

Obviously I'm not him - but I have to imagine it would be tough for him to leave the situation he has at SBU with an all junior class - if everyone stays they are the favorites to win the A10 again and be a top 25 team. But opportunities like that don't come every day, and I can't blame him for going to his alma mater.

BC is his alma mater, so that adds a wrinkle to the situation, however his situation is very similar to Hurley's from the 2016-17 season to 2017-18 here...Rhody won the A10 and was a minute away from the second weekend, a very succesful season and the following year we were picked darlings of the A10 and consensus top 25 team

No one know what Schmidt is thinking, but i would think if he jumps, he jumps after next year's season, not this year

Watching the end of the broadcast yesterday I saw Schmidt talking to security I wondered what about obviously it was about this situation

Have to wonder now about the A10’s decision to move the Championship game from Richmond to Dayton plus schedule it a week after the A10 semifinals were played.

Sad situation for these players and coaching staff.
