George Washington’s Fan Forum
URI thought after Tuesday night’s double overtime win, they would have some time off until their next (scheduled) game against St Joseph’s. Looks like URI has a game this weekend as they will head to our nation’s capital to take on George Washington. The Colonials have struggled this year, both on the court & even getting to the court. GW has had to postpone multiple games this season for both COVID as well as the insurrection on the Capital. (I am going to have to assume theblueram had something to do with the latter. ) Since January 4th, GW has played only 2 games (both losses at home to VCU & Dayton) so they will be coming into this game a bit rusty. The Colonials are led by two sophomores, guard James Bishop & forward Jamison Battle. In addition, a player to look out for is 6’8” junior Ricky Lindo Jr. Like Betrand, he was sitting until the NCAA granted a blanket waiver for all transfers in a Coronavirus-altered season, he was then allowed to play. The Mitchell twins are familiar with Lindo Jr as he was on the Terrapins the previous two seasons. I am sure he & Makhel have battled in practice before, so will be interesting to see it for real this season. That will only happen if Makhel is healthy enough to play as he was battling injuries towards the end of the Dayton game Tuesday night. This game Sunday may be a good game for both Makhel & Fatts to rest up before heading to Richmond for the A10 tournament. Although Fatts may be salivating after looking at James Bishop’s turnover stats (4 per game) & try to pad his all-time steal numbers. If both Fatts & Makhel do sit on Sunday, look for Martin & (gulp!) Harris jump into the starting lineup. In Rhody’s last game the starting 5 scored 81 of the team's 91 points, so they will need more if a couple starters are seeing reduced minutes. With that being said, Rhody should still have enough to pick up the road win. I for one am looking forward to seeing what Ish can do after his monster clutch performance the other night. URI has won 4 in a row & 6 out of 7 against GW. I predict that trend continues & Rhody wins by 12, 73-61. Wear a Mask & Go Rhody!
