I would still have taken that offer. It was a 2 for 1 if I recall correctly, 2 at VT 1 at RI.
URI wasn’t getting a home game under the scenario that was discussed. At best they get a game at Mohegan for two road games.
My mistake, I still would have taken that offer.

Any idea on the expected turnaround time on the waivers? Last year it took forever but you seem to be confident that it is a much quicker process this year allowing us to pick up immediate transfers. Hope you are right and they at least make a quick decision giving us some flexibility on the roster!

Isn't the problem with that that the timing on thumbs up or down on the waivers comes too late?
Agree...you are rolling the dice if you banking on a favorable decision, it's a risk.

Thor Bjorn, in his interview with Steve MacDonald, thought it might be pretty quick once the paperwork is in. If I recall a week or 10days. That seemed awfully optimistic to me.

I think they were trying to be respectful to the NCAAbin case they heard their comments. No way is the NCAA going to this quickly for URI or anyone else. They beat to their own drum and will do it when they get around to it. It would be shocking, but great if we knew by the end of June

The Seton Hall Home-and-Home also gets us started on the 21-22 schedule as well (for those that look ahead). We have three home-and-homes ending in 20-21.

21-22 Schedule:

@Seton Hall
@Brown
vs Providence
Mountain West Challenge (assuming top 10 A10 seeding)

You are missing Brown and PC/URI.
For URI I would pick the following under this hypothetical:
Brown
PC
Yale
UConn
BC
Manhattan
St Johns
Any NJ team
Rutgers

Don't want to speak for RJ, but I think he excluded PC and Brown because they're already on URI's schedule. He was looking at possible additions to the current slate.

I disagree that the list isn’t exciting - about 5 schools I would love to play and another 5 I wouldn’t mind playing and yet another 5 that will probably be better than our worst games next year. You could make a schedule out of it.

Good - no no more 2-1. BC really didn't merit such a series deal, especially the second agreement as it happened when their program was in decline. Worth noting that BC has had recent home and homes with A-10 members St Louis and Richmond.

In my view, URI should always have a series that involves a Boston school. There are four options, easy travel, it is the region's biggest media market, strong recruiting area, and URI has a lot of alumni either in greater Boston or other parts of New England that can make a game there.

I think the BC game completes the schedule with 13 OOC games.

Home (6)
Drexel
Seton Hall
Boise State
Brown
Lehigh
Quinnipiac

Away (5)
Monday 11/30 Florida Gulf Coast
Friday 12/4 Providence
Monday 12/14 Western Kentucky
Harvard
BC

Neutral at Mohegan Sun (2)
Marquette
Central Florida or Minnesota

This slate will have URI away from the Ryan center for the majority of its OOC games. This however is not as bad as it may seem as five of these games will be within a 90 minute drive of campus - 2 at Mohegan Sun, 2 in Boston, and 1 in Providence.

This schedule actually ended up much better than it originally started out. Depending on the coronavirus, the waiver process and the last open spots it has potential for a very challenging schedule and a great start to the 2021-22 schedule with PC and Boston College at home and Seton Hall and a MWC conference team on the road. The staff has done a very good job with the schedule this offseason

URI presently has a three game winning streak versus Boston College, has an all-time winning 3-2 record at Conte Forum, and split two games at the Ryan Center with the Eagles.

Will URI alum and BC Head Coach Jim Christian make it long enough for a return to Kingston in 2021?

At this point it would make great sense for URI, BC, UConn, and UMass to all play each other over the next few seasons. Of course we get UMass as part of the A10. But a good double header at Mohegan - URI/UConn and UMass/BC would be great. Do it every year and swap the opponents. Alternate between Mohegan, TD Garden, and DCU Center.

This schedule with a lot of fairly local games is perfect during this pandemic. All but two of thirteen games will be played on campus or within 90 miles. The only exceptions look to be at Western Kentucky and FGCU. Limited travel with just a few nights of players not sleeping in their own beds on campus.

Their pres makes it hard to fire people and who knows what their budget will look like with maybe not getting full football money this year. Or at least the uncertainty will be there. Plus, this is their best team in his stint there. Would be surprised if he wasn't back for that game.

Well, UMass won the last three match-ups. It looks like they played pretty much every year from 1995 to 2014, and from 1963 to 1978. It seems like a natural sort of rivalry to me. We're probably not going to play UConn now because Hurley is coaching them, but as a fan of a team that didn't get games against the Huskies, I can understand the frustration. (And BC is by no means UConn, since the Eagles have seemingly been floundering since letting go of Al Skinner.)

Things change, like the advent of 20 game league schedules. UMass has not been any good for the last 6 years, they have not earned a game with BC.

You can certainly argue that - You could also look at last seasons schedule and argue what have South Florida and DePaul done in the last 6 years to "earn" games as well. One program is 26-82 in the last 6 years in their conference, the other is 24-84 in their last 6 years in their conference. You could argue why did they travel all the way to California for a neutral court game against the Cal Bears? Cal won 16 total games the two years prior and were on to a new coach. For that matter, you could argue what did Richmond do to deserve a game last year? The two prior seasons they had KenPom's of 181 and 203. They didn't exactly schedule a gauntlet of elite competition. Don't think it's wrong to call it for what it is.

11 games including:

3 Big East
1 ACC
1 Big 10 or AAC
1 MWC
Plus Harvard.

Looks strong.

Home schedule is pretty weak, every road/neutral game will be tough.

Cox has turned into one hell of a schedule maker.

If we beat BC in Barons last year then we should be able to beat them with this squad!

Beat them last year technically.

Always nice to get an ACC win under ya belt.

If only we can get a couple waivers up in here.
