Any updates on where we stand with Pridgen, Salnave, etc? We’re final 5 with Nelson.

Arizona State forward Romello White is in the NCAA Transfer Portal, per a source. White averaged 10.2 PPG and 8.8 RPG this past season.

A player who would be in his final season at ASU, who started 29 games last year, who averaged 28+ minutes a game, has decided to leave a team that will enter next season in the top 25 (top 15?).

Tyrese, Mikhi, & Jacob... it is about them, just like it is about Romello. The sky isn't falling in Tempe. The sky isn't falling in in Kingston. If you think it is you need to get caught up with the times.

White is a Grad Transfer. Sat out 1 year at ASU to focus on studies. Immediately eligible

Long, Toppin and Martin must sit out a year.

I think Martin made a poor decision if the transfer rule does not pass, sitting out a year is not helpful to his game. Toppin will not be hurt by having to sit a season, in fact it may be the best case for him to sit out a year at Kentucky.

Looks to me that the transfer activity has slowed as we get closer to the May 20th vote.

Wait and see is the name of the game right now.

Maybe the staff is holding off making decisions on recruits until then.

With 3 openings and only 7 players available if the rule doesn't pass or is delayed until the 20-21 season, they really can't afford to add more than one more sit out transfer.

Point is for whatever reason a player who is getting playing time, contributing to his team, is part of a Top 25 team, still has a desire to go elsewhere.

Looking from the outside most would consider him to be in a very good situation where he is yet he is still leaving. It is about the player and not about ASU or the coach or playing time, etc...

Cox needs to fill the last slots with recruits that will be immediately eligible under TODAY'S rules. Already have enough transfers whose status for next season is unknown.

It is kind of hard to do that when potential players do not know what their likely role on the team is going to be. If you are a grad transfer forward your playing time could vary widely depending on what the NCAA decides on the transfer rule.

Decisions on eligibility really need to be made asap.

Don't delay the vote again.

A lot of programs, including us obviously, are currently twisting in the wind when it comes to recruiting.

The whole thing is a mess...and add the uncertainty of even playing the season on to that.

There is no excuse for the NCAA not to make a decision NOW. Have a conference call with all the parties and get it done. They should have put this issue ahead of when and what to allow players to be paid. The transfer decision is much more timely for players and coaches than the payment issue. As usual the NCAA has its head up its ass.

He could be the 6th man there and be drafted - sit a year and let his body grow some. Not a terrible situation for Toppin. Tyrese sitting for the chance to play at UConn is a waste of his talent. Whoever got in his ear had bad advice because by the time he gets to play at UConn he will be recruited over.

The Wake Forest Center transferring to Kentucky said he will just go pro if he has to sit.

The kids being more inclined to go overseas or G league route are really putting pressure on NCAA.

Read that the summer recruiting calendar will be shortened which will lead to a lot of recruiting mistakes - one or two more sit out transfers and we will be in excellent shape come 21-22 with 4 or 5 guys on the roster who would not be able transfer without sitting out.

He is probably the only regular transfer remaining among the guys that we are rumored to be involved with that is worth the cost of potentially sitting five guys next year. Personally, I do not want to punt next season.

I agree.

Joe Pridgen was an intriguing prospect. I don't know what the plan is, but I am making the assumption that it was either/or for Betrand or Pridgen, they are close enough in player type and style. And Betrand was the more valued target, which we got.

After that, you might be looking at Jalen Carey if there was legitimate interest there. The opportunity to get a PG on that level would be too good to pass up. Otherwise, this might be it for transfers.

Maybe try the JUCO route for immediate help. Marco Morency (6'3"PG) from NY could be a dark horse candidate averaged almost 18 pts and 3.5 assists last year and was a 3 *.

I want Pridgen on this roster. 17 and 6 is no joke as a Frosh even if he was putting it up for a 3-29 Holy Cross squad.

This gets back to me being willing to sacrifice this upcoming year for a loaded roster in 2021-22. Get this dude.

Well, if they brought him in, it would have to be with the understanding that he is primarily an undersized 4. Which, really isn't that big of a deal anyways. Cyril was undersized. ARD was undersized. Charles Barkley was undersized and not much taller than Pridgen, if at all.

But with all of the guards we have, he couldn't be a 1 or 2, and would have very limited opportunities at the 3. I'm not opposed to it, and when you come from a team that only won 3 games last year, was the basement of the Patriot league, and your best options are Rhode Island, Arkansas, San Diego, and Richmond, perhaps it's something he would consider.

I thought about Taurean, he got buried on the bench last year and only played a little in 1 game, must of been in the doghouse. He always had great talent in high school and first year at Syracuse. He may be a head case and heard he gave little effort on defense. Maybe Cox would be the right coach for him to teach him up.

Not surprised by that, DC.

17 pts, 6 rebounds is no joke. However, the one thing that offsets that is that when you are on a 3 win team, and no one else can score, sometimes you get all the points by default. Whereas if he was on last year's URI team, with Fatts, Jeff, Tyrese, and Cyril, his numbers probably would have been more like 8 and 4. It's a statistics thing.

I don't wish him any ill will though, it will be interesting to see where he lands up and how he does. If he would have come here, with all of the other players and transfers we are compiling, it would have been interesting to see if he would have been happy with 8 and 4 or 9 and 5, from the 4 position, which very well may happen if he lands at Richmond, Arkansas or San Diego.

Fits the need for next year for sure if the transfer rule does not pass. If our front court is JH, Antwan, Taurean I am good with that for next year. Add Jonah on the wing and we have ourselves a very good team next year and one that sets up well for the following season.

Ok, watch this video end to end, and tell me what you think about TT. This apparently was TT's last, best game for Seton Hall, a year and a half ago before he was recruited over and eventually benched. You can also find the Syracuse vs Duke video from his freshman year.

The knock on TT is that he is all offense, no defense. He is #15 in blue in this video.

Again, vs Providence, later on that season...

Oddly enough, these were the two games he played the most minutes in, 25 mins vs Kentucky and 20 mins vs Providence. There are many games he played in the single digits or 0. Listen early on where the announcer is saying he's only been in for a few mins and has 4 points, and then his man goes right in for the basket, and he goes right to the bench for a while. He was definitely punished by Willard for matador defense throughout the season, I'm not sure Cox will put up with that either.

He definitely has the athleticism and talent, but played soft. Hopefully his next coach will get the max effort from him. Unfortunately the 4* bigs left on the board from this year's class we have no shot at. Creighton did recently pick up a 6'9'' Euro that has potential and we may also try the international route.
Youth: Isaiah is still on the board, needs to add strength and is a bit raw
JUCO; Tim Holland (I previously mentioned) highest rated JUCO big not committed. Looks like he can add inside depth and do the grunt work underneath.
There is probably many more that our staff is paying attention to, in case the no-sit rule doesn't pass this year.

It's too bad really, because he's a brilliant scorer. Vs Kentucky, he had one three pointer, and 5 two pointers for a total of 13 pts in 25 mins. But there were two times, including the final play of the game, where he passed up the three pointer for the assist instead, and they are really nice passes, like a point guard.

Lamar Odom was used here like a point forward. Perhaps this kid just isn't being used correctly. At a lower tier program, they might have been more willing to treat him like a star and hide his weaknesses, not so at a Syracuse or Seton Hall. He can literally play anywhere on offense, they have him underneath, on the wing, slashing like a two guard. On Defense, the temptation is to put him right under the basket because of his height, but he should be guarding someone on the wing where he wouldn't be exposed as much, which is where you traditionally place your weak link on defense, and is probably where DJ Johnson will be this upcoming season when he is in.

So, I'm not completely opposed to this move. I think at this point, this kid would be absolutely delighted to be getting 20 mins a game at the A-10 level, he was riding the bench for the past year and change. But he obviously has to work harder and he has to be utilized a bit better.

I'm guessing most probably feel he is damaged goods or a headache not worth it.

Again, brilliant on offense, not aggressive at all on Defense, actually shies from contact. I mean, Lamar wasn't great on Defense either, but he did get into foul trouble occasionally which indicates he was willing to try. I think it was really telling that TT played 25 mins vs Kentucky and only had one foul.

I'd call him a poor man's Lamar.

You will notice that Seton Hall had a massive drought for scoring in the first 10 mins of the second half in the Providence game, and they were basically forced to put TT in for the better part of the last 10 mins of the game because of his offense.
