Event postponements/cancellations

Unread post by rambone 78 »

Sucks that Wimbledon cancelled until next year.

Makes sense though.

I get the feeling that a lot of events that so far have just been pushed back a couple months or more, will end up not happening at all.

I also agree with those that think even the NFL will start late at the very least.

If some events are played in front of empty stadiums, that sucks too.

The Kentucky Derby imo will never run with no fans imo. That isn't anything like the Florida Derby that just ran.

There are obviously tons of games and leagues affected. Any thoughts on this from some of you?

2020...the year that nothing happened in sports......even Saratoga, which has run for 145 consecutive years, may not happen...unreal.

And of course, college sports.

I can’t imagine MLB starting before mid June. An 80 game season perhaps?

Or...Which will happen first? MLB plays games, or RI beaches open to the public?

I honestly am not sure that these things are just going to all of a sudden come back the way they used to be. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens, and obviously these are all billion dollars concerns so they’ll be back in some capacity sooner or later. But it’s going to be a while before you’re going to convince 10s of thousands of people to gather somewhere - it’s not like we are just going to flip a switch and everyone will come right back like they never left.

Get ready for sporting events without fans for most of 2020 (when they do finally come back).

Looks now like there will be more outright cancellations than postponements....and events without fans are looking more and more doubtful by the day.

Just have to hope that everything is back on track by the spring and summer of 2021.

I think an effective vaccine will be necessary for that to happen, and that's at least a year away.

My big hope is that new or existing therapeutics will be found to lessen the symptoms in the more serious cases.

Then things could get better a little sooner.

The British Open is officially cancelled today. It sounds like the PGA is going to be putting out their new schedule shortly

Does anyone have a cornhole game they aren't using? Maybe trade ya for a puzzle?
