Hoping it is Berry. I would think this changes nothing with Martin signing. Why does it feel like if we get Berry things are still going to be changing. Stay tuned. More moves to come.

I wanted Berry.

All these commits are great, except we still haven't addressed a pressing need.

Shooters. Berry would have helped fill that need.

Hopefully Cox can get a transfer with the last spot that fills the bill.

Shooters? Malik martin shot 38% from 3 last year! Shooters? Isnt that considered one? In addition to the players blue man just mentioned. Find a negative spin some how I guess is the game.

What's wrong with saying we could use another shooter?

Some of you are really annoying. That's not a negative spin.

I'm very positive over our signings.

Yes Leggett can shoot and hopefully Malik will add to that.

"We still haven't addressed a pressing need...shooters" you said.

I'm saying malik shot 38% from three last year 34 of 90. I guess I just disagree with this statement. Malik was a good shooter this year. Not sure why you think he doesnt fit that need.

Well there's at least ONE thing we can all agree on, that the last few days have not been boring when it comes to the roster.

Roller coasters don't have the ups and downs that this board has been on, that's for sure.

At least it looks like it's ending on a high note.

Will be interesting to see if Cox fills the last scholly.

Agree with those that think he should, we won't know if the transfers will be eligible for at least a couple of months.

Okay, so one spot left is the title of this thread . What is the conventional wisdom from anyone with any real info ? does the final spot get filled ?
And if so who is the consensus candidate for the scholarship and I mean who is likely to be in Kingston in September assuming the Pandemic is over ?
Like others, I would like to see a major sharp shooter . Murray has very impressive stats . If his overall game is good enough , we need someone
like him .

The spot definitely gets filled with someone who has immediate eligibility. I am not sure if there is a leading candidate at this point. After going 4 for 4 on their priority recruits Cox can change his strategy now. They could go for a higher rated recruit (with a lower probability of closing). My educated guess is a Grad Transfer or JUCO. They could also wait a few months to see if the transfer rule passes but that adds risk as to what recruits will be left. Cox is going to manage risk at this point and even if the probability is low, he can’t take the chance of starting Sept with 9 eligible players. So he can’t take another traditional transfer. He apparently only wants a Fr class of three. If he was ok with a Fr class of 4, Berry would’ve been the 4th.

Understood, but is someone like Murray too good to pass up, to hold rigidly to that rule?

Other than him, it would appear all of the recruits we know of, are all transfers of some sort. Grad, JUCO.... or regular transfers that have to wait for a NCAA ruling.

It would seem after taking 3 transfers that are likely to get a positive nod by the NCAA but not guaranteed, you would probably go with Grad or JUCO unless ... Murray?

You saw the way Cox was scrutinized by this fan base for Sheppard, DJ Johnson, and Greg Hammond, the argument being why did you leave this team so strapped for talent with so many questions or unknowns.

Is the last scholarship insurance against that? In that case, it may not be applied until we find out some more answers, like what the NCAA's ruling is, and what is ultimately happening with Fatts

since we don't have a guarantee that Martin or the twins will be eligible to play next season, it would be good to have someone that is capable of contributing next year.

AMEN. Someone to keep the other team honest when they pack the lane to stop our slashers or to stop
the hemorrhaging when our athletic defensive specialists can't put the ball in the ocean for 3..4..5 minute stretches!!

Some Maryland observers are saying that they think Ricky Lindo would like to follow the Mitchell twins. He'd be another sit-out candidate and I agree we need a player who's 20-21 eligibility isn't in question. Just passing it on.

How good is he? I don't follow this nearly enough to know. If he's that good, why not? Even if it means a poor 2021 but a great 2022? And yes, I realize it's a complete 180 from what I've been saying about getting someone for next year.

Ratings and offer -wise, he was not a typical Maryland recruit. Turgeon saw something he liked.

This popped in the back of my head when I first saw the news since the timing was so close to the twins commitment to rhody.

Pushing the decision on the transfer rule back 2 months will cause MANY schools to hold off their decisions regarding who to sign.

Lindo was on the DC Premier team with the Mitchells that won the UA AAU Championship. Lindo had a very good AAU season and leveraged that into the commitment from MD. He enrolled early in Jan. I think he was the leading scorer in the Summer AAU season. I don’t think he is a good shooter. He was more of a slasher. In the limited time I watched him at Maryland he struggled offensively. I agree with DC’s assessment.

I don’t think that will happen with the good transfers.
Tyrese will commit to a P5 school in April.
Long will be left twisting in the wind. Notice how there has been nothing about schools pursuing him. He could end up at Loyola Maryland.

Agree, he made a mistake leaving here.
