They’re shooting at a high percentage because they haven’t had to make anything farther than 2 feet from the rim. Our approach of running them off the perimeter is backfiring at the moment. Will see a halftime adjustment.

First half observations...

I was terrified of this game (and still am) even though it’s not going at all how I though it would. Rhody is playing bad enough to be blown out but instead we’re down 8.

- I feel like when Fatts doesn’t get the initial call or calls going to the hoop, he’ll constantly look to pass. And that’s fine because he’s great at that too, but CL just can’t seem to finish today.
- But kudos to our guys for at least handling biz from the line.
- We’re doing a good job defending the 3, but getting killed on dribble penetration. KILLED. The strategy of denying the 3 only works when you fill the lane and rotate down. The result is we’re getting lobbed to death.
- Our shot selection is trash. No more contested 13 footers please.
- You CANNOT blow 2 3 on 1 opportunities in a game like this, and we did. It’s a 4-point game if we properly execute there.

Now for some complaints that I hope don’t trigger some posters here...

- I thought there were 3-4 calls (or non calls) that could’ve gone our way but didn’t. Jeff on that last fast break was hacked.

Rhody will win this game if...
- Jeff and Fatts become Jeff and Fatts

- If (when) Davidson starts making their open 3’s.

-- Don't collapse on penetration -- their system helps ballhandlers find open men for layups.
-- Guard the corners.

Need ball and player movement on offense. Too much dribbling from Fatts right now. Staff needs to draw up some plays for him to get him going out of the locker room. If he sees a shot or two go in early, he should be ok. They just look so stuck on offense right now. They’re making the Davidson D look like those UNLV lock down teams from the early 90s.
Rhody does not look like a tournament team right now: 20 minutes to get things corrected.
