URI did all the right things and put together a much better non conference schedule than PC and realized that it is much more challenging on getting a bid from the A-10 compared to the Big East. I mostly agree with your general point, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that the A10 isn’t a good conference. There are 32 conferences, and it’s somewhere between the 7th and 9th best depending on the year (or the day). It’s a good conference. It has some really good programs, but it’s overall strength is diminished by some bad programs at the bottom that basically serve as filler. As we’ve talked about for years, as well as recently over in the Fordham thread, it’s not good for a college basketball conference to have filler. GW is part of that filler, and someone pointing that out is not necessarily wrong. I think it rubs people the wrong way because it’s also not totally necessary and could be read as a gratuitous attempt to diminish not only URI’s win today but it’s performance over the last month. I could live without the comment, honestly, but I also don’t really care that much.
