I saw McCall in the hallway by the entrance to the locker room when the post game dust-up occurred. I was actually surprised he was the first person going to the locker room without any of the team or staff with him. He only returned to the court once he heard the crowd and knew something had happened. He had no part in things and looks to have gone back out to get his team quickly into the locker room. I don't hold him at all responsible for anything concerning the scrum.

I saw the same thing, was up above the tunnel where I watched McCall walk under before even noticing midcourt. Wish more students hadn't left yet as they could have really let Bergeron hear it.

Just watched it back on the TV and that Toppin handshake line jawing was before that jerk came to mid court to talk to Cox. You couldn’t tell whether Toppin was responding to something he heard or started it. Toppin then went off court but came back during the Cox scrum to continue chirping.

Also McCall might have said he didn’t know what happened but at some point he came back out because he was on court for at least the last part.

I feel like McCall has his hands tied (of his own making) because he has so many guys under the control of this a**hole. He can’t discipline his own coach for fear of losing the players.

I worry for Tyson getting caught up in what is clearly shady nonsense and general buffoonery.

I certainly agree with all of this. It seems to me that this will be taken care of by the Commissioner and won’t have to be handled by McCall so maybe Bergeron will get his ass handed to him.

It was interesting that the UMASS players knew who the Technical Foul was on. One UMASS player “high fived” Bergeron after the Tech was announced. Likely that was not on TV. But McCall knew who the “T” was on. There were several times McCall got energized from the bench too, just not to the level that Bergeron did.

Not only had most fans departed the Arena but many of the URI and UMASS players had already headed for the tunnels.
The altercation happened more between halfcourt and the UMASS FT Line towards the Ryan Center North Entrance.

Timing was odd because it was after the handshake line was completed. It surprised most all of us.

I had heard that Shane Donaldson had been knocked to the floor but did not see it personally because I was blocked by the Players, Police, others. So it was nice to be able to see the replays here on KB once home. Good thing Shane was OK, and that nobody got hurt in the scuffle. Good thing the police were on the scene from the beginning to quickly break up what could have been a very ugly situation.

Tre Mitchell is a good player and will be a STUD barring anything weird happening, but our game plan was to make him beat us. He couldn't single handedly hence why we won.

That's a big leap to make. At his size he would have to be a face up 4 in the NBA, which would require him to be able to put the ball on the floor and consistently hit outside shots. People underestimate how difficult it is to make it in the league. You either have to be very good at all phases of the game (shooting, dribbling, defense, athleticism) or elite at 1 thing. He will torch the A10 for 4 years no doubt, but the NBA is a whole different ball game. There is a reason he ended up at UMass and not a P5, anyone could have secured his services if they were willing to hire Bergeron.
