Maybe I'm just a weirdo but I could tell it wasn't the normal DJ for the Providence game which was disappointing. Hope nothing has changed.
Don’t worry, DJ Face unfortunately came down with the flu before the PC game and couldn’t make it. I’m sure he’ll be back for WKU.
Not related at all to his talent. Did he have a naming contest on 4chan or something? How did he come up with DJ Face?
His name is Tim Face.

...Kidding. No idea where the name came from

Went to the pub at half time. By the time I got to order, the second half already started. They were out of Miller Lite and Narragansett. It's like a little kids lemonade stand. We need beers at the concession stands!!!!!!!

I’m wondering if they were short staffed. The lines took forever at the refreshment stand I went to.

The lines always take forever- I stopped even trying a couple seasons ago. The staff that they do have aren’t exactly in a hurry to move things along either.

I counted 18 total lights in the entire 300 level looking up from floor. Most of them looked like just the flashlight on. Very few were blinking at the times they should have been blinking.

Cut bait.

The building lights would shut off and then the lights in the rafters would flash to the intro video and starting lineups. I believe it was first introduced during the PC game in 2016-2017 or so. It was very well received and then slowly petered out. Now we have this cue thing.

Hi everyone -

I know there’s been a lot of gripes about Cue. I was having issues myself getting it to work until yesterday’s game. After loading up the app and getting the “Waiting to Sync” message, I hit the video button on the screen it worked like a charm. Give it a try next game.

Part of the problem is...it's a 'line', not 'lines'... serving a hundred or so people...one...at... a... time.
An idea that would help...taking beers back to seats....or standing in the concourse where's there's some room.
I wonder why no one has ever suggested that...?

Ha - I’m afraid that’s outside of my control. One benefit of my gig is that I’ve never even had the opportunity to wait in line for a beer at the Ryan Center - or drink one for that matter.

Put me in charge and I will have that pub figured out in about 2 seconds

And I’ll be pumping music to fire people up

It’s so easy

I’d extend and enclose the pub to a real pub and get rid
Of the shower curtains

And I’d extend it to under the main scoreboard

I turn it into a real RHODY pub w real RHODY pics up

I’d find a sponsor and it would be done and it would be FAN-tastic

As for the current “pub”..

CUT BAIT !!!!

Agree. A few kiosks and drinking in the concourse would be way better. No one wants to wait in line 20 minutes for a beer and then have to stand packed like sardines in a can to drink it.

For whatever reason mine hangs on “waiting to sync”. I am going to delete the app and then reinstall. Maybe that will fix it.

I can’t stand the shower curtains. It makes me feel that I am at some event where we are going to be forced to listen to some boring motivational speaker. The lines are horrendous and I’ve seen jabronis cut people in line recently, guess they think they’re entitled? And it wasn’t younger people either, it was men in their 60s. How rude!

I had heard a rumor that there was an idea, or at least some interest to put the pub area below the score board.

I have thought the same thing for a couple years now and I'm glad to see others feel the same way. Get rid of the curtains, have two entrances/exits (fire and life safety compliant) and people will actually WANT to be there during the game to watch.
What a concept; increasing sales by delivering a product people will actually enjoy.
I hate trying to chug my beer right after the anthem so I can run to my seat so I can see tip off.

If someone has a legitimate reason why it can't or shouldnt be put under the scoreboard I'm all ears, but it makes too much sense not to do it, at least in my mind.

And they could double their income in the pubs if they did things a little better. Lot's of folks give up and don't even bother trying to get in there. And others that might have two stop at one. And so forth.

I’ve been saying this for years ...

Along with getting rid of press rows w shower curtain #2, the black drapes !

The pub should be an authentic pub w RHODY memorabilia/pictures

I’d even do special keaney blue mood lighting throughout

“Keaney Pub” and pay homage to frank keaney as a focal point

Pub should be where it is at and extend to under the scoreboard - there is still enough room to keep a walkthru behind the pub - even if you have just pub seating there- ala the green monster seats

URI may want to look at VCU which has a great track record of managing its men's basketball program and its facilities:

Over the summer, VCU worked on the concession infrastructure itself. The school completed cosmetic updates to the stations, including new countertops and more.

One of the additional fan experience enhancements VCU has on its radar is to improve arena Wi-Fi for Siegel Center spectators.
VCU has sold out every home men’s basketball game since Jan. 29, 2011 — a string of 142 contests.

As the school continues to evaluate the experience at the Siegel Center, McLaughlin said it has to be proactive and respond to fans’ needs.

They send us a survey every year, we all (I assume) vote for alcohol in our seats, and they do nothing.

Have never seen or done a more pointless survey.

I would rather not have more alcohol service at the Ryan Center. If it became anything like Gillette, I would be less inclined to attend and would not want to take any of my young relatives.

Go to NCAA Football Final 4 Games, go to NCAA football Championship Game - no alcohol sales, no beer in seats. Only alcohol if in Suites or Clubs. NCAA rules.

But I go to Dayton Arena and they have beer sales and it’s a fun atmosphere

I can see both sides

But I personally agree with DeanDome about no expanding alcohol sales.
Ryan Center is a family atmosphere.

I’m good with expanding and improving the current beer drinking facilities but no alcohol to seats please.

Throw Zoo Mass into the conversation, the atmosphere with beer in the seats with over juiced fans is obnoxious and just not enjoyable. Keep the Ryan Center the family friendly venue it has the reputation for. Is alcohol that important to enjoyment?

Surprisingly I agree with most of the sentiment here. Upgrade the pub so that those who want that environment can be there.
But upgrading is a must, and I dont mean new curtains.

Re: Ryan Center In-Game Experience - Issues and Upgrades

Unread post by Rhodyram »

I go to almost every game with my 8 yr old. I’ve never been in the pub and from what I have seen when I walk by(and what I’ve read) I have no desire to. That being said I’d love to be able to have a beer at my seat. That’s 8 bux a game they are not getting from me with the current situation.

So we want beer sales to bring in revenue? Sounds like the charge for parking idea as well.
$8 sounds like a lot for a beer at a college basketball game. It’s not all profit of $8 either. Cost of the beer, sales tax, trash disposal, possible extra security needed, etc.
