Toppin needs to just come down with the ball then do a pump fake and draw the foul don’t go for the great play just get the ball

Martin, Tate, Toppin & Long have missed all their outside shots (0-8).

I certainly am not impressed with Will Wade as a coach and beyond that he is a cheater. The NCAA will catch up to him and LSU.

Need to be better defensively.
Martin 0-2 with 4 turnovers and poor defense. He has no energy.
Martin & bench are 2-12 going 0-10 from outside.

Positives :
-Langevine/Fatts
-in the game just down 4

Negatives:
Switch to the zone defense led to open 3 after open 3 along with a few easy layups - gave LSU confidence
Dowtin - needs to be more aggressive
Martin - needs more energy/passion/aggression
Harris - played well when in the game but you can't score from the penalty box

I don’t think it is going to be possible for us to beat the better teams on our schedule getting these kinds of games from Jeff. Don’t mean to pick on him, but he is not impacting the game at all. Need a lot more from him.

Jeff has got to play better. Can we stop going for the head fakes which open up the floor for their drives to the basket and passes for lay ups or dunks.

Frustrating effort from some. How many times will Martin watch a guy dart by him for a layup? a putback?

Dowtin must try to have more of an impact on the games this season. He can get to the basket and is tall enough that he has a good chance of making something happen but he settles. Too much settling.

It's always a problem to go against these high majors who have more depth than us. Our core guys get gassed by the second half while LSU can pull off more of their Cyril's from the bench

This is the worst defensive team URI has had in years. They get beat off the dribble which causes a major breakdown. Dowtin and Martin getting beat routinely.

LSU averages 19.6 turnovers per game. Today 5 turnovers. Lack of defensive pressure.
URI has 10 turnovers.

When Danny Hurley left for UCONN he must've taken the defensive intensity with him to Storrs.

I don't think its a high major thing to have more than 7 guys on the team that can play though. That's just a coaching thing. It is what it is at this point, and Walker is coming, but depth will be an issue all season no matter who we are playing.

I too always thought of DH as defensive but I thought going down the road to Storrs was fairly offensive. Maybe that is just me.

As a guy who has watched lots of Carmelo Anthony, Martin's defense reminds me of Melo's defense. 35 year old Melo.

Every possession down you look for who is closest to the guy getting the rebound and putback or the layup and it's Martin.

Yeah his lack of effort is discouraging. He looks disinterested. He needs to play at a much higher level than he has been this year.
