Volleyball coach not retained

After three seasons Steve Santonastaso will not be back as the women's volleyball coach as his contract won't be renewed. We went 6-8, 3-11 and 3-11 in the Atlantic 10 during his 3 seasons, this after going 8-5, 9-4, and then 12-2 in the Atlantic 10 before he was elevated from assistant.

This timing could be instructive as it relates to Jim Fleming and his contract situation. Volleyball's final game was Saturday and this was announced yesterday. If Fleming was never extended, and if they decide not to extend him, the announcement that we're going in a new direction could be announced as early as Monday. One way or the other you'd have to think the athletic department should be making some kind of announcement about who will be coaching the football team next year sometime next week.
