After a strong performance against Alabama, Rhody is looking to keep the momentum going as they take on Nicholls St. Nicholls St will be traveling up from Louisiana for this game as this is one of the campus games for the Jamaica Classic. This is the first time URI has faced off against Nicholls St. Although URI will be favored in this match-up, they are a team that shouldn’t be taken lightly. They have a win at Pittsburgh & their two losses were close games at Illinois & at LSU respectively.

I think Nicholls State is going to a lot tougher opponent than many are giving them credit for.

I am also concerned with how Rhody approaches this game. They were sky high after the Alabama win. There sometimes can be a letdown after such games. They will need to be mentally focused and prepared and not take this opponent lightly.

I agree Martin needs to put in more minutes at SG. It is easier for that to happen if Harris stays out of foul trouble. Harris in the game more lets Dana and Toppin log more minutes at SF which frees up Martin for SG minutes.

Martin can’t run the point. Either Jeff or Fatts have to run the point. One has to be in the game at all time. We should never see both of them sitting at the same time.

Against Alabama the SG was too quick for Martin to cover.

Long as we got one guard with a strong handle in the game we can get the ball up the floor run our high post sets fine for a while. Having two superior ball handing guards like Russell/Dowtin (Mobley/Murphy Wheeler or Lucius Allen Mike Warren lol) makes our half court offense sing best.

Nicholls appears to not be a cupcake. Should be a fun game! Looking forward to it.

It's only three games, so small sample size, but Nicholls St. is literately last in country in offensive rebound percentage as a defense. Which is a confusing way to say their opponents grab a ton of offensive rebounds.

But, they are fifth in the country in turnover percentage, which is one way to mitigate the rebounding issues: limit the number of shots the other team takes.

Going to my second game tonight at the Ryan Center. Last Friday was my first. Given that it probably won’t be a packed house, any suggestions of what I should not miss?

Don’ts
- Don’t plan on Wi-Fi. Don’t waste your time trying. You will just get frustrated.
- Don’t expect a good burger or sandwich at the concession stands
- Don’t expect a good atmosphere or inexpensive beer at the drinking zones

Do’s
- Get there at 6pm and watch the teams warm up
- Watch Langevine and Harris play on defense. I think both are strengths to this team. Watch them off the ball in addition to with the ball. IMHO they both work hard
- Watch the bench reactions. The guys really root for one another - I think more so than last year’s team
- Watch the assistant Coaches. I think we have a good group
- Allow time in the store before and after the game. Lots of great stuff in there for Rhody Fans
