You can out athelite the Wildcats if you got the horses for it.

Now I see Memphis "gets temporary restraining order" issued late today by the courts allowing Wiseman to play tonight. Are we in the "NCAA quickly dying" portion of the evolution now?

We get bad attendance and we feel the need to justify why is was bad. Attendance simply is what it is.
It’s surprising to me that 4,258 feels ok to any URI fan.
All good seats in the Ryan Center

In the Dunk those seats above 8,103 are bad. The Dunk was built for Basketball and Hockey. Might as well bring binoculars if your seats are in the end zones or upper levels.
I hope all the seats are good, some of mine will be testing that theory!

Davidson settling in and playing better for the last few minutes of the first half, down 37-35 to Auburn at the half

Good game. Auburn tried to muscle Davidson, but it didn't work. I expect a great second half.

Memphis fans are hot. Saying the P5 teams are mad that Penny out loo recruited them, especially pointing at Kentucky.
Wiseman is playing now in tonight’s game.
Apparently would not have been an issue that Hardaway helped move the family except that Hardaway is viewed as a Booster because he gave the school money back in 2008.
Judge allowed Wiseman to play tonight in late development

Wiseman got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd tonight

I see the Memphis side, definitely a case of looking backward by the NCAA. Being a non-P5 school I am hesitant to dunk on them also. I heard very little about Penny being a prospective coach until not long before he was named, so between the 2008 donation and that now could he have anticipated things going like they did?

Taking a little luster off the URI opening win, UMass Lowell hands Long Island U. a defeat on the Sharks home court, 87-74.

Also the Bonnies fall to America East favorite, Vermont, 61-59.

GMU blows early lead, but regroups to beat Longwood, 76-65.

Gudmundson, a Senior, and Grady, a Junior, needed to step up tonight for Davidson and neither did. A-10 does not get so many opportunities like this. Both Guards had mediocre games and a Top 25 win opportunity was lost.

VCU was favored by 15.5 points. VCU defense came up big in the last minute. NTSU showed to be no pushover in Jamaica. Both teams hit several clutch 3 P’s in the last 2 minutes.

Jordan Roland, a Senior Guard, had a whopping 44 points for Northeastern

Roland had 39 points in a victory over rival BU in another win this week for the Huskies, averaging 41.5 ppg

Let's not get carried away Ramstock . sure Davidson did not look good tonight nor did VCU, the Bonnies or any A 10 team for that matter,
but one bad game by these teams is not a strong indicator of how the entire season will go . Maybe you want to wait until game 10 for all
of these teams before you proclaim that the league is weak this season.

Possibly.

This is a big battle coming

Penny Hardaway helped the family move from Nashville to Memphis 2 years ago. BEFORE he was ever Coach at Memphis.

NCAA is saying it’s a violation because Hardaway is classified as a Booster because he gave money to Memphis back in 2008

NCAA declared Wiseman eligible several months ago

Wiseman has already played one game, tonight was his 2nd game

Today NCAA said he was not eligible - on game day!!

Hardaway and Wiseman spent the afternoon in court today.

Judge issued order that Wiseman could play tonight.

Fans at Memphis gave Wiseman a standing ovation tonight

Announcers of the Memphis game tonight were very critical of this NCAA decision. They said this could lead to the end of players having to play 1 year in the NCAA in College before going NBA.

Then NCAA came out saying Memphis will be responsible even though Judge ruled Wiseman could play tonight.

NCAA is in for a huge battle on this one it now appears.

From Memphis Newspaper Tonight:
Memphis knew for Their first game too and still played Wiseman then and again tonight.
Wiseman arrived from court today just 45 minutes before tip off. Hardaway says Wiseman will continue to play as long as Court decision is in place. Stay tuned!!

The Bonnies were without their big man and best player Osun Osunniyi tonight versus Vermont. He will be sidelined for several more weeks. Bonaventure has both a very weak in and out of conference schedule. They only play the projected top four A-10 teams once each and have no real high profile names on the OOC slate. The only P5 school they will play is lowly Rutgers in Toronto. With two losses at home to Ohio U and Vermont, their already long shot odds for an at large are now near zero. It has been a devastating four days to start the season in Olean, NY.

Davidson usually has problems against the better teams the last few years as their athleticism doesn’t match up well. They need to bury a ton of threes

Unfortunately the A-10 has a small window and when you get to game 10 it is too late if they lost all their big non conference games. The league will not much credit when their is a separation of four good teams, a couple decent ones and bottom of the barrel with the rest. They need to win their big non conference games whether it is fair or not. If not expect 1-2 teams

Yes, it will be the same scenario as last season for the A10, if they don't win at least some of their games against their better OOC opponents, and avoid too many losses to lower rated teams also.

URI might have the best opportunity to enhance their chances out of all the better teams in the A10. Have to take advantage of it.

How come every time the NCAA makes a decision if has to be cartel vs non-cartel? Why can’t we look at this and say “Hmm, that actually is a dangerous precedent?” The impacts of that may far exceed just Wiseman. How many future recruits are now more interested in Memphis because they land the #1 player in the country, or because they win a lot of games this year with him? What Hardaway did and his relationship with the family gave him an obvious leg up in the recruiting process.

Nicholls State leads Pitt 28-21 with 5 min. to go in first Half. On Tuesday, Nicholls lost their opener on the road to Illinois in OT, 78-70. We face Nicholls St. as part of the Jamaica Classic and they don't look like any pushover.
