Opening the 2019-20 Prediction Contest
Opening the 2019-20 Prediction Contest
URI begins its 116th basketball season on Tuesday, November 5 with a game against Long Island U. and this event triggers the opening of the 12th Annual Prediction Contest.
MAIN PRIZE
The winner of the prediction contest will receive a $200 cash prize.
BONUS PRIZES
This year we will award prizes in all the bonus categories. Each winner will receive a $50 Mews Tavern gift certificate based on:
1) Team Scoring - regular season only (to avoid ties, this prediction must be made to two decimals).
2) Top Scorer - regular season only (to avoid ties, this prediction must be made to two decimals). New this year, hence the two decimal requirement!
3) Average Home Attendance - regular season only
4) Also new this season is the inauguration of a new bonus prize - the Mid Season award which is based on the most accurate prediction of the OOC record. The winner of this award will be determined using the same rules that apply to the winner of the overall contest. The winner will be determined at the conclusion of Brown game on Jan. 2.
In the first three bonus categories, if bettors submit an identical prediction to one already placed, they will be asked to modify prediction and resubmit.
Note: In the event that a participant correctly predicts all prize winning components, ex the Mid-Season award, the prize would be doubled to a $700 cash award.
PREDICTION COMPONENTS:
Each participant will make a prediction composed of five parts.
1. Regular Season Record (based on 30 games)
2. A-10 Conference record (based on 18 games)
3. Team Scoring Average, ppg (to two decimals, based on 30 games).
4. Top Scorer & Scoring Average, ppg (to two decimals, based on 30 games)
5. Average Home Attendance, regular season only (15 games - 9 conference, 6 OOC)
The contest is a game of accuracy in predicting the overall regular season record, so the other four components of bet are essentially tiebreakers and will be used to determine the winner according to the above sequence. To move successfully through the sequence requires either predicting the actual result or coming the closest to the actual result.
A suggested prediction submission format:
1. 24-6
2. 15-3
3. 68.42
4. Dowtin, 17.83
5. 5,945
DEADLINE
The deadline for submitting a prediction is Tuesday, November 5, Noon.
OTHER GUIDELINES
• This thread is home where all predictions must be submitted.
• The contest is only open to bona fide URI fans and those meeting that qualification must have registered on this forum before September 1, 2019.
• Please monitor your private messages soon after you place your prediction, because if there is any problem or duplication with your bet, you will be notified via PM to take corrective action.

My prediction will also hold off for a few days until Walker's situation is hopefully resolved.
