I hoped they would’ve picked up a QB in the earlier rounds.
The Patriot Way
Re: The Patriot Way
Day 3 of the draft is usually the best for the Pats. They usually trade down to dominate on this day. And, these picks are the ones that get them to the SB.
I had hoped that they would draft a tight end. They passed a few times on some good ones. They must know something we don't. Maybe they really like what they picked up in free agency.
I also hoped they would take that receiver from UMass.
But, I learned a long time ago not to question what they do in the draft.

Pats could have taken Andy Isabella at #13 of the second round. Arizona Cardinals grabbed Isabella at #30 in the second round.
He is going to be interesting to watch next year. Excellent wide receiver and very fast.

Re: The Patriot Way
What good tight ends did they really pass on though? The really good ones would have required trading up. I think the hope is that Harry is big and strong enough out of the WR position to take over a lot of the red zone production lost from Gronkowski's retirement. That and I like the CB they picked up in the second round. We don't really need another small receiver, but we need a big corner that can match up against other team's bigger receivers or even tight endsramfan85 wrote: ↑5 years ago Day 3 of the draft is usually the best for the Pats. Re: The Patriot Way
They will never fully replace what Gronk could do, both as a receiver and blocker.
He was a generational talent.
Of course the Pats know this, and will find other ways to succeed.
Some may laugh, but the rest of the division is gaining on them, albeit slowly but surely.
Although I doubt anyone else will win the division until Brady and Belicheck retire.
There are some things in life that are a given lol.

Re: The Patriot Way
Rudolph would have been nice, but I think people are underestimating what Austin Seferian-Jenkins can do in this offense (assuming people even know/remember we signed him). Same size as Rudolph, three years younger, and he's shown some flashes throughout his career with Tampa and the Jets

Yeah he could be ok but he is injury prone too
Hopefully we can find a veteran in training camp to put in the mix

The only team that can stop them in the AFC is the Chiefs.
Otherwise it's another SB appearance.

What a dominating performance by the Patriots winning 43-0 at Miami
Antonio Brown played well. Brady a strong performance. Some big pass interceptions.

Miami is hilariously bad...that 1st pick 6 was comical.
If Brown plays all season the Pats are SB bound....again.
Even without him they will be factors due to their improved defense.

My team doesn't have any divas or high paid players....yet, when I stepped outside this afternoon...I could clearly hear a sucking sound, all the way from NJ.

Re: The Patriot Way
I don't really think that's an accurate read on the "Patriot Way" at all though. The Pats don't mind paying players if they're worth it, and over the years, they've had plenty of outgoing guys like Gronk, former SNL host Tom Brady, Moss, etc.theblueram wrote: ↑4 years ago The rest of the league still hasn't got it. What seemingly makes Belichick different is that he doesn't let ego and sentimentality get in the way of personnel decisions, which is way harder than it seems. First round pick not working out? He's fine with cutting or trading him. Guy was an asshole on another team? He doesn't care, if he thinks he'll help the Patriots. Player won a couple Super Bowl with the Pats? Well, he's past 30 now, so it's time to trade him. Want to show up at Wrestlemania? Fine, as long as you're there for training camp and in shape. And so on.

Buffalo is a 6 point favorite at home week 3
Patriots play the jets
Could very well be Buffalo (3-0) vs New England (3-0) in week 4 at 1pm AT Buffalo.
Imagine if Buffalo should win that game? I know it’s a long shot but Buffalo fans will be rocking for that game.

Re: The Patriot Way
I thought the Bills were kind of scrappy last year, despite not having a ton of talent on the roster. I'm not sure they've upgraded much, besides Allen being better than his rookie self, but that's probably enough anyway to improve on 6-10. And especially if you consider they'll get four games against the Dolphins and Jets. (The fun from Jetsland lately - They told a player happy birthday on Twitter, then he was cut the next day and they deleted the Twitter post, too.)

Re: The Patriot Way
Buffalo might give the Pats a game early, but they'll fold.
They were lucky to beat the Jets in game one....they scored twice late only after Mosley went down with an injury.
In other words, they aren't that good.

Buffalo won all 4 preseason games fwiw. So that’s 6 straight wins
But for that matter the NY Football Giants won all 4 preseason games

Pats will definitely have a test at Buffalo but ultimately may pull out a win . Pats have injuries along the offensive line that are worrisome ??

I did think it was optimistic that Cannon did try to give it a go on Sunday. I wouldn't play him this week against the Jets, but sounds like he isn't far off. I think it's also encouraging that Wynn only has turf toe, although that can certainly keep him week-to-week, at least it doesn't appear to be anything that would knock him out for a month+.
They also brought in Caleb Benenoch -- he was terrible last season but at least has experience as an NFL starter and hopefully Dante can put some work in there and rehab him to be some qualify depth.

Well bye bye Antonio Brown.....was going to happen sooner or later. That circus was never going to end.
Obviously hurts the Pats on offense, but with their vastly improved defense they will still win the division in a walk and likely get home field thruout the playoffs except for maybe KC.

It will against the few good teams they'll play this season.

Not shocked AB is gone.
But i am a bit surprised this so called "threatening text" was the catalyst. I actually read the so called 'threats and it's just Ab asking some guys to do some research into this women that is accusing him. The tone is rather bland and matter of fact.
AB is almost certainly a terrible person. But doing opposition research in a situation like this seems a very sensible thing to do. For all we know the women could just be some star chaser seeking to leech fame/money off celebs.. we all know there all no shortage of people like this in the world. Is asking this question, even in private beyond the pale? I find that hard to believe..
must be something else here we are not privy to.

Re: The Patriot Way
In addition to the new stuff surfacing, I think Bill got sick of these and the guy was likely cut before Bill took two steps off the podium...:
Q: As far as your work with Antonio in football, do the off-field allegations, accusations complicate your ability to coach him, your feelings about him personally?
BB: "When we work on football, we work on football."
Q: Can you talk about Antonio's roll this weekend?
BB: "Uh, no. I'm not going to get into that. We're going to do what's best for the team like we always do."
Q: How do you weigh with your players their performance on the field with their behavior off the field and what's best for the team overall?
BB: That's a big picture question. We answer it the best we can. There's no set formula.
Q: How important is the behavior off the field?
BB: "Everything's important."
Q: Do you expect to have Antonio available to you on Sunday?
BB: "He's on our roster."
Q: Another headline today focusing on Antonio Brown. Does any of this at all affect his status with the team?
BB: "I think I've already addressed this. We're going to get ready for the Jets here. Happy to answer any football questions. The rest of it -- I'm done with the rest of it."
Q: Was there ever a point where some of the off field stuff--
BB: "So, yup. That's, yeah, I'm good, thank you. I think we had enough of it."

Any idea if we can get Demaryius Thomas back form NYJ now? i would offer that pick they gave up for him + a 7th rounder. Or maybe give them our 6th rounder this year. I always liked him, he was amazing with the broncos and looked great in pre-season.
NYG i think you are right he got tired of the distraction. No doubt that had to be part of it.
But i can't believe the interview questions were the catalyst. Bill knew he would have to answer these questions over and over since the civil suit was filed..

Re: The Patriot Way
interesting to see it basically confirmed Brady and Bellichick did not want to release Brown but were forced by Kraft. I hope he doesn't cost us a ring with this BS. I mean those "harassing messages" were not even offensive or aggressive at all.
Why have the greatest manager and player ever in their profession on your payroll if you are going to overrule their advice and force your management to go against it's wishes? Kraft is a successful business man he of all people should know doing something like that in insanly foolish. Not just with the AB situation. But it could easily poison the relationship with BB

Re: The Patriot Way
Man, I'm not seeing how sending someone 1) a picture of their children and 2) asking one of your buddies to "look into their background" can be seen as anything but a threat or an attempt to intimidate. I was fine with the Pats taking a chance on him with just the weird Raiders baggage - Oakland is all sorts of screwed up - but I have zero qualms with Kraft deciding to move on after those texts surfaced. Is it hypocritical given Kraft's own weird shit going on? Sure, but it was still the right decision vs. still employing the guy.
