at one point he was suppose to have an OV to USF this past weekend - if that did happen, and he has an announcement on Thursday, that doesn't bode well. have to wait and see I guess.

I actually watched him play at a local gym last night - kid can shoot and is very quick.

I saw him play 5 games this summer. Hope he selects us.

How do you get a negative out of a recruit not taking his OV to another school.
I believe he has made two OVs - URI and UNCC.

just also confirmed that with a writer that covers USF recruiting - Ish didn't come down for a visit after a 4 star committed to them a few weeks back. He also thought Ish was leaning Rhody.

Now I'm relaxed.

How do you get a negative out of a recruit not taking his OV to another school.
I believe he has made two OVs - URI and UNCC.

you misunderstood me - if he DID take his OV this weekend and then said he was ready to make his announcement a few days later, that to me sounded like he was going to commit to USF - obviously not the case since he didn't make the visit.

I am still worried, just my nature I suppose. Based on the videos this kid seems like the real deal to come in and help alleviate the pain of losing Jeff.

Let's hope he commits, has a great senior year, and signs his NLOI for us in Novemeber (the first minute he can).

I think it’s interesting to note that both Leggett and Wood were once ranked around 100 in this class but dropped substantially to the low to mid 200s in the rankings over time. What’s further interesting is that the prevailing wisdom on Keaney Blue was that Wood was over ranked but Leggett is a steal. It will be interesting to see how it all works out. Hopefully, DC has a knack for seeing things in recruits that others don’t.

Talked to Coach Cox tonight. He loves this kid. Coach visited Leggett yesterday for 3 hours! He wasn’t about to take a chance with this year’s top recruiting target.

I don’t think “there was a prevailing wisdom on KB that Wood was overrated” as a 4 star and top 100 players. More like just 3 of us. Majority were fine and trust the staff was most common which is fine. Let’s see how he does at Berkmar HS this winter. I trust the process.

I don’t think Leggett classifies as a steal - that makes it sound like we found a diamond in the rough to me. Jeff Dowtin and David Cox graduated from St Johns College HS and grew up in the area so there is not a much more connection than that. St Johns got in the USA Today Top 25 during Dowtin’s time and play in the prestigious / competitive Catholic League. Leggett also plays for Kevin Durant sponsored Team Durant in Nike EYBL AAU. His teammates include #35 ranked Earl Timberlake and #93 ranked Darius Maddox committed to AAC Virginia Tech. Leggett was an integral part of Team Durant’s success. He got good visibility in EYBL Pool Play and at Peach Jam in July. My guess is many schools backed off of Leggett because of the long recruiting interest that URI had displayed and the unique close relationship with Dowtin and Cox being St Johns alums. Leggett is coming in the year Dowtin graduates as well. Nice pick up for URI.
