I believe field turf and lights will be ready to go this season, with the home game against Delaware being played under the lights at Meade.

All indications are the spring game will be at Meade. The suggestion that the turf and lights would be an ongoing project making Meade unusable for the spring game never really made sense. There's plenty of time this late spring and summer when it won't be used so we can get the project done. All indications are the project is moving forward and will be complete for the start of this season

Saturday was the last practice at Meade, they started ripping up the turf that's been there since 1983 yesterday, and the spring game will probably be at Narragansett High

Too bad homecoming wouldn’t be the first game with lights.

That would for one hell of a day and night.

Maybe a 3:30 game now that there is lights. That would be great for pre game tailgating and even post game victory parties!

You got that right, Hal.
We have come a long way in only a year when dropping the football program was mentioned most every season. Nice to have those drop football and put the money into basketball, or drop football and put the money into hockey, or just drop football period.

Will be exciting with the new turf, the new lights and a good returning cast of players and incoming recruits.

The blue print looks great! That field is really going to look good!
Eventually I still would like to see stands In the end zone ( scoreboard side ) nothing too high to close in and then the band would have a place to be at all times.

Actually the “one winning season” had nothing to do with the lights or the turf

Two Different Alumni each donated $1 million
That was designated to be used for the Turf and for the Lights. These Donations were announced on August 18, 2018, before the first game was played last season.

Did the news of the donations inspire the team and coaching staff and increase fan turnout last season? Possibly.

But the success of last season did not cause the donations of lights and turf.

The general contractor is DeGregorio Corp.out of Smithfield. They will be doing most of the site construction. FieldTurf will be supplying and installing the synthetic turf for the field. The Designer I believe is a local Architect/Landscape Architect.

Jajuan Lawson ranked as the 23rd best QB on Mel Kipers rankings.

That's out of 38.

I guess that is fringe 6th 7th rounder to undrafted free agent territory there.

Hope to hear his name called!

Can anyone remember the last time a Rhody football player was drafted?

Mel Kipers absurdly expansive draft rankings.

Ehrhardt was surprisingly not drafted but signed with Jets as FA.
Steve Furness was drafted in the '70s by the Steelers.

Correct. Bob White was drafted in 1986 by Dallas. He played 3 years. Nobody drafted since 1986 or 33 years.

Most players drafted in a decade was 4 players on the 70’s

The highest Draft Picks of the 13 total URI Draftees were both 5th Rounders. Steve Furness played 10 years and Jeff Williams played 6 years in the NFL

They made the teams, but only served on the practice squad.

I remember Matt Hansen was supposed to be a second string linebacker for the Falcons, but had a bad injury and that was all she wrote for the RI native and URI alum.

Andrew Bose made it to the last cut for the Ravens.

I think Jajuan has a pretty good chance to make a team. I'd love him as a third stringer on my team.

Defenses are usually better in spring games as we usually know.

I just worry about quarterback play.

We have the weapons, so I can imagine we could be pretty attractive for one of those guys.
