Bonnie’s start 3 freshmen.
Osun Osuniyi and Kyle Lofton both made A10 all freshman team. They played together at Putnam Science

Dominick Welch is a 6’5” freshman guard who hit a career high 20 points today

Courtney made 1st team A10 over Cyril but statistics don’t tend to justify the selection. Stockyard had 66 turnovers to lead the A10

Bonnies only playing primarily 5 guys now with Jalen Poyser only guy off bench today with 14 minutes. Poyser was from canada and originally recruited pretty hard by URI

Good game for our freshmen to show up well against Bonnie’s Freshmen

Also a good game for Cyril to show why he should have been selected over Stockard.

It's going to be an interesting game. This is a case where both teams are pretty different at this point from the two that faced off back in January. Hoping we can rely on Fatts and Cyril in this one.

I saw a screenshot on Twitter for what some foolish VCU fan said about Dave and Jeff. I’ve respected VCU fans and have had great convos with some of their fans at previous A10 tournaments, but this little mamby pamby is their bad apple for sure.

In a tournament like this, with a game every day, that can be tough even for young guys. URI is definitely deeper. Now all Rhody has to do is come out with some defensive tenacity and shut them down right from the tip off.
They need to get up in their grill, put their foot on the gas, and beat them like they're rented mules.

Maybe a good thing for us, Fatts didnt expend much energy.
Even though it probably doesnt matter because hes build like a distance runner.

This is going to be just as tough as VCU. St Bonaventure looked pretty crisp out there.

Hope the great play from the freshman can combine with good games from Cyril and Fatts.

This team’s turn around has been simply amazing, I love the chemistry they’ve developed over the last 7 games. Coach Cox gets the credit for this, he has grown as a coach faster than anyone could have imagined. His offensive sets are so good and the team has played with fire. Bonnies 3pt game was on fire yesterday, shooting nearly 50% from beyond. Lofton had a great game, Stockard and Griffin were okay. I look forward to Cyril having a big game today, taking adnatge of his weight and game experience over Ossuniyi. Schmidt is a fabulous coach and like Coach Cox has done an exceptional job with his team this year.

That table will not even be within eyesight today. And with a win? That table might be through the window from celebration. Also might be where it ends up if a loss but let's not think about that.

One would typically think that the team that was playing its third game in three days might be the more tired club than one that was playing its second game in two days. That however might not be the case today. As mentioned by others SBU plays a very short bench and only seven got minutes yesterday. Three starters were on the court for all 40 minutes while another logged 37 minutes. Only CL and JD played near that. URI actually had one more player score yesterday than the Bonnies had in the game.

Another thing that might help today is that URI may be more battle tested with better wins. SBU very much took care of business against lesser teams. URI did not always do this (see UMass and Fordham). While SBU had the better A-10 record and seed, much of that can be attributed to its schedule. The four best overall season teams in the league per the NET, RPI, and KenPom were VCU, Dayton, Davidson, and SLU. SBU has played these teams just five games with only one away from Olean. The Bonnies went 1-4 versus them. URI has played these four teams in nine games going 4-5. Five of these games were away from the Ryan Center without the benefit of a friendly venue.

Agree with RF1 - best win is against SLU, second best wins George Mason twice. Other than they have feasted on the bottom half of the league. Nothing to write home about in the non-conference either.

The last time we had this arrangement CBSSN stayed with the women's game until it was over, which was quite a few minutes into the URI game. So ladies, please play an uptempo game and keep the timeouts to a minimum.

Anyone surprised that Cyril played 39 minutes yesterday and Preston only 3? Also Harris only got 9 minutes. I'm surprised with Cyril not playing his typical game that he didn't get more rest. I'm not a Preston guy. Still surprised he's gotten so few minutes in the last 2 games given he was able to contribute at the end of the regular season. He's not going to contribute offensively, but he's a big body and if other guys continue to shoot the way they have, you can live with Preston not scoring.

Agree with your whole post, RF1, and to add to this part of it: URI also has another (admittedly small) advantage in that their turnaround time for this game is slightly longer. I get that it’s not a huge deal, but to the extent that playing another game 24 hours later is tough, every hour counts however slightly.

My biggest concern today isn't really the physical fatigue of playing 3 games in 3 days, its more the mental/emotional toll of yesterdays game. I feel like they wanted VCU so bad I just hope it didnt take everything they had. I think we'll need Fatts and Cyril to pick up the slack today much like the first game.

Hard to believe that Cyril and Jeff are 7-1 in the A-10 Tournament is their career to date. Minimally won two games in three consecutive seasons.
