Nice win for you guys tonight, we didn't bring it (we seem to lose some of our energy on the road). Good luck the rest of the way, glad the only injury was minor (losing a tooth) for both sides.

It was a great old fashioned A-10 battle.

The game in Rochmond will be just as intense and you guys will be extra fired up.

The leading rebounders in the game each had 7 boards
Santos-Silva for VCU had 7
Jermaine Harris and Tyrese Martin with 7 each led URI - nice impact from our two Freshmen Starters

Yes. No letdowns please. UMass has been a pain in the ass for us, especially at their place.

I think Cox will keep them focused, hopefully.

Solid game. Well played and well coached by Rhode Island.

Dowtin and Russell clearly enjoy beating the press.

Sadly when this film hits the street I doubt we will see much more of it.

Great game! As tough as the first half was, it was really promising ending only down by 4. VCU seemed like they didn't miss a free throw. Got really close towards the end but the boys stood tall and took it home. Progress.

Facing a press the entire game, against one of the best defense teams in the country is one thing. But given that we are a young team, who only plays 7-8 people, it was so impressive that we could hold on against a team like that. That win was pure determination.

Just got home. Great confidence builder for the kids tonight. We know we can hang with the top teams in the A10 now. Didn't read above, but IMO Fatts played like an all A10 player tonight. He was superb. Unsung hero was Jermaine Harris: stepped up for Cyril, hung in there on D, didn't panic with the ball in his hands, helped with press break when some others were panicking, hit some free throws, made that critical shot. Tate and Martin were very good too and Dowtin his usual solid performance. Good to see; we might just be able to do a little damage in the A10 after all.

Just finished watching (was recorded and had to stop and start several times - kids). Great 2nd half and that sequence late of Harris hitting the jumper followed by CT taking the charge after VCU cut it to 2 was the sequence of the game! Need more of that from CT!

The big lesson is you can never sleep on VCU - their trapping defense is too good and that 12 point lead turned to 6 in a real hurry! This is a good win and proves they can be near the top of the A10 this year. It's going to be brutal down in Richmond in a few weeks (also on CBSSN). They'll be tough at home. If they happen to get up 12 with under 4 to play, keep attacking and score!

Strategic change by Cox in this 3 game winning streak with 3 point attempts
The last 3 games have all been the fewest 3 points attempts of the season
St Bonaventure we went 5-13 with 13 being our fewest threes
LaSalle was even fewer as we went 3-8 attempts
VCU only 9 attempts and hit just 1

Prior to these past 3 games we had 8 games of 20 or more 3 point attempts
George Mason was a disaster 3-25 on threes

So good job by Cox to get the guys to buy in

If you are not a good 3 point shooting team then take fewer attempts said the Rocket Surgeon

There seems to be quite a separation developing between the top 7 in the A10, and the bottom 7.

The haves and the have nots.

Getting a top 4 seed could be tough, unless a few of the top 7 stumble against the bottom 7.

I would have thought 12-6 would be good enough to get a double bye, but now I'm not so sure.

I think that's where we are headed [12-6] so we might need some help getting there. Haven't been many upsets by the stiffs at all.

Like I said, the top teams aren't losing, except to each other.

Duquesne is for real. Dambrot is no slouch.

We've got some real tough road games ahead.

Got to run the table at home, and steal a couple against the better teams on the road.

I think Rhody is good. That was fun.

I thought they would win this one if they took care of lasalle. I don’t really have a feeling on the next two. Unpredictable opponents and environments. I do know Langevine dominates Davidson and changes the game they play. I also know umass is wild and we never know what will happen there or here. Hold on to your seat.

You are right about Harris. And who would have thought, preseason, that our Freshman big man would be the teams best FT shooter. He has great form, smooth release and he does not get rattled.

Didn't start out well, but what a finish . Beat VCU by ten in the second half and could have been more. Avery convincing second
half performance by the whole team. Hope they proved to themselves that they can beat anybody if they take care of the ball ,
play good defense and take good shots, not forcing up prayers.

Not sure he needs a turning point. His defense has been good and continuously improving. His rebounding has been improving also.
Big men need patience. He is the best Free Throw Shooter on the team - who would have predicted that?
Reducing his fouls is key and also Cox simply needs to give him more playing time - not be so concerned about his fouls. If he fouls out so be it.

It’s somewhat similar to the St Bonaventure game and the laSalle game where you looked up and we has amassed a decent lead. We had nice streaks in both of those games that broke the games open. We can be streaky good.
