The seats at the top of the 300 sections are not sold, even though they are not available for purchase. The ticket office tries to sell the seats closest to the court first. If the seats in the front parts of the 300 sections, that are now green dots, are sold, then the back parts of these sections will open up and become green dots. There are tons of seats available in the 300 sections right now.

So I can see why some people think it is a near sell out and others don't. It depends on which link you go to.
No confusion on my part, my prediction of 7300+ is based not on the Cancer link but on the main purchase link which shows about 500 tickets left unsold. And my guess assumes small walk-up ticket sales which is a stretch at best.

I didn't count the available dots, so I'm glad to hear there only seems to be about 500 tickets left! Wish I could go tonight. I'm on daddy duty.

I’ve ate my tickets for a couple games already, since I can’t attend weeknight games generally and couldn’t find any takers for previous weeknight games. However, had zero problem unloading my tickets tonight, and actually had to turn some people down that inquired. So, totally anecdotally, I sense a little more interest in this game and wouldn’t be shocked to see a good crowd when I tune in to watch on TV tonight.

Thanks, Gopher, for the info on Vince Williams since the VCU website roster lists him as a true FR. Also, I thought Xavier Jackson is a VCU senior, at least that he is how he is listed on the roster. Actually, the Vince Williams input bolsters the comparative observation about the stronger experience and depth of the VCU team versus URI. So let me re-phrase my original statement, true freshman on the URI roster are in action 67 minutes per game versus VCU true freshman at 8.6 minutes. Thanks for helping me make that clarification.

Man, I'm actually wrong on Vincent Williams. Sorry, I'm in year 2 of law school and keeping up with my team has unfortunately fell on the backburner. Corey Douglas is a redshirt sophomore, which was who I was thinking of.

I agree with posters on here that VCU has more experience (by a bit), I just wanted to point out that we have no seniors - which may be a reason for our struggles holding onto a lead late on the road. I'd imagine that if we're up 5-10 points with under 6 minutes left, that is still very much a game.

Hope no injuries tonight, enjoyed my sole trip to a game up there a couple years ago (and Mews) - good luck guys.

I had to make a stopover on campus earlier today. Tons of signs around campus about tonight's game. I am sure Coaches vs. Cancer initiative gets people out too, because at this rate, unfortunately, I think we all are close to someone who's been affected by cancer. The students were away for a while, so I am sure there will be a great turnout. The marketing efforts by Jeff/Eric/Will around the dorms last night will definitely ensure a great turnout.

VCU doesn't press much this year. Our Half Court defense is as great as I've seen since becoming a fan (2009). Adjusted Defense on Kenpom is #5 currently. Should be a rock fight, with URI at #52 defensively.

If I am VCU, or any opponent, my strategy would be to blitz and double team ball screens and force the ball out of Jeff Dowtin's hands. Basically let anyone else but him beat me off the dribble or in a half court set. I would expect to see a lot of that tonight, he is the stir that stirs the drink in Kingston.

We have to match their defensive intensity and guys have to step up and make some threes to have a chance.

Jeff needs to take control, Fatts needs to stay in control, Dana and Tyrese need to make threes and CT needs to play with the fire he played with against West Virginia or Charlotte.

I'll be a little surprised if we win.
I'm really hoping to see us take our level up a notch.

Watched the last VCU game and came away very impressed with the fact that they really Play nine guys. With their style of defense, this should give them a real stamina advantage at the end of the game.

Hope we keep it relatively slow, play a little zone and establish a low post game with Jermaine at least some of the time that he is on the court.

One oi these games Jermaine is going to show his offensive potential both down low and outside. Hoping he gets his 8-10 shots tonight!!!!

.......I agree he should, but does he establish a clear post up advantage and by that calling for the ball?.......I have not seen much of that......just a “wild hook” which was good, described by Steve....

I’ve been saying this from the early games. Been critical of his defense since November.
He has been a big disappointment.
But his play is what it is......
more incredulous to me is how long Cox went with him as a Starter and how many 3 point shots he has been allowed to take with a poor percentage and how often he looks to play as less that optimal effort.
I’d play him 5 minutes a game if that
