Re: '19 PA C - Naheem McLeod (Offer)
This was a recent post from one of the most frequent posters on the FSU board.
RI folks seem confident he's picking the Rams. Don't think it means anything for us re: Wiseman if he does. Balsa is the one we needed. McLeod more of a luxury.

I still think it's flip a coin....maybe that's what he is doing.

Haha he’s a 4 star center (according to Koch) when we miss out...would have been a 2 star if we landed him

I'm telling you, the suckiness of the A10 is killing us now.

I have faith that Coach Cox and staff did all they possibly could. Kids pick schools for many different reasons. They sometimes choose situations that might not be in their best long term interests. It is however their life and their decision.

Hard to go against FSU's reputation with 7 footers.

Oh well. I’m already over it. Just got to win.

Re: '19 PA C - Naheem McLeod (Florida State Commit)
After seeing how hard it is for a strong freshman class like this one at URI to come in and make an impact we really need to get some transfers or someone that can help right away. I don’t expect much of anything out of the 2019 class until around 2021-2022. Maybe something from Hammond in his sophomore year. This really stings. Three times now I thought we were getting an impact recruit.

Cox could be a great coach but players make coaches

This just puts pressure on Cox to win sooner than later. His accomplishments on the court is what will drive recruits here.

Maybe sour grapes....but the kid was way too narcissistic for me.....and he dug the bright lights.....

I think this has been said before....Cox is going to have to prove he can get us to where Dan did, before we can start landing 4 star types....
Another year or 2......

The coach isn’t the reason we struck out on Bishop, Walker and McLeod. Two of those guys decided where they were going before we even had a product on the floor. They all chose P5 conferences.

Stop acting like Cox had the full recruiting cycle on this class.
You can't judge him on an abbreviated schedule. If he misses next year, then by all means.
Remind me again who were all the big recruits Hurley racked up between Terrell and Harris?

The A10 was also up at that time. Right now it’s abysmal. Hass wasn’t Hass until year 2/3. Also not fair to compare Hurley to Cox. Lastly, we STILL have the highest rated class in A10.theblueram wrote: ↑5 years agoHurley landed EC and Hass in his first class.rambone 78 wrote: ↑5 years ago I think this has been said before....Cox is going to have to prove he can get us to where Dan did, before we can start landing 4 star types....

Re: '19 PA C - Naheem McLeod (Offer)
It was mentioned before this recruiting cycle started that it is hard for an A10 school to follow up a strong recruiting class the following year. After Jared and Jarvis, Hurley got Thompson, Layssaard & Tertsea.Da_Process_Survivor wrote: ↑5 years agoStop acting like Cox had the full recruiting cycle on this class.

As the associate HC. It doesn’t always translate immediately. This is also his FIRST HC gig.theblueram wrote: ↑5 years agoCox has been recruiting here for like 4 years.Da_Process_Survivor wrote: ↑5 years agoStop acting like Cox had the full recruiting cycle on this class.

Re: '19 PA C - Naheem McLeod (Florida State Commit)
This is the problem with the A-10!! We have the supposed highest rated class. That is terrible. The conference gets one top rated 200 player and is around 193. This class isn’t near the one of 2018. I guess we need to hit on transfers. Guys just don’t want to play in the A-10DC_Rams wrote: ↑5 years agoThe A10 was also up at that time. Right now it’s abysmal. Hass wasn’t Hass until year 2/3. It doesn't matter if this is his first HC position. He took the position at a top A10 school. He knows what's expected.

Re: '19 PA C - Naheem McLeod (Florida State Commit)
At least we pulled out the Harvard game...this would feel WAY worse if we lost that on Friday and only had this to look forward to.
To me, Naheem would have been a nice replacement for Tertsea. As in, they would have had to open up a scholarship for him. I want Christion Thompson to come back and finish out his senior year rather than 5th year transfer somewhere else.
I think this wraps up the class with Long, Mading, and Hammond. Hopefully they turn out to be as pleasantly surprising as Dowtin and Cyril, but it feels pretty disappointing that we missed out on all 3 of Bishop, Walker, and McLeod.
