The last (Pitt) poster sounds like a douche. Pitt is lucky to have a guy like that to boost the ‘coolness and all that’ factor.
I hope they are worried..

The other 3 though, yeah, we should win out to them based on campus, coolness and all that... but if the kid says he wants a tiny campus, then maybe he will pick URI or VCU. Ive been to Rhode Island, its not the best either, the state as a whole is run down from years of mafia pilfering and government side deals, and the university is no different, plus RI students are basically considered community college attendees since Brown is nearby. They do have an amazing donut shop near campus though lol.

I think this kid is either sick or is crying inside while he said that because he knows how awesome Kingston and South County actually is. What a loser.

Feedback from Day One of Walker’s visit is it went really well. Rhody’s approach is a team effort. Their goal is that the recruit feels part of the team. When the visit is over the staff wants the recruit to feel they would enjoy being part of the team and on campus as a student athlete next year. As opposed to just wowing them like a sales pitch that wears off after they accept. Dinner tonight with some of the DMV players.

The team has practice today so Walker observes practice. That is pretty popular for a recruit. They can see the level of skill, intensity and the type of practice the coach runs. Rhody coaching staff runs a very uptempo practice which should be a positive.

Not sure what else is on his agenda. Probably more time with a group of 3-4 players and dinner with the coaches of course (most likely Newport).

The funny part about the comment from the Pitt fan is if you ever saw Pitts’ campus. I went there with my son for a visit because they have a good program in Neuroscience which he wanted as a major. It was so unappealing that he didn’t go there even though they offered him a full academic scholarship.

. He thought that Brown’s enrollment was made up of mostly RI residence. I am sure he wouldn’t have been accepted to URI.

1st official at Rhody, 3rd OV overall. He went to Illinois and Pitt earlier. He had an unofficial in June I think

In June Walker had an unofficial at Rhody. His mother and AAU coach joined him on the unofficial.

Walker IG story has him watching Rhody practice at 10:00 this morning.

Yesterday he got to spend time with Chase Campbell (Strength & Conditioning) as the players worked out.
Chase goes thru his philosophy, what he is doing to improve the basketball skills of Harris, Cyril & Dana and the drills the team is doing.

not only that he put VCU in as a small school really!! largest one in enrollment 22k to 17 at pitt 15 at uri.

also, isn't Pitt was in the shadow of Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. Guess, Pitt must a community college also.

Walker’s mother is here for his visit. She came with him in June also. She is very involved. Also went to both Pitt visits. Was at his AAU games that I went to. Supposedly she was very happy with URI during their June visit. Liked Coach Cox and the academics.

I'm sure they love the campus. I go back now and wish it was like this when I was there. Dr Dooley has turned this school around in a big way. Hope he is at the soccer game.

Not at the soccer game. Second night is dinner with Walker, his mother, Coach Cox and Coach Sutton. Usually the dinner with the coach is in Newport.

He has been pretty clear that he plans to take all his visits. He even brought it up with Pitt reporter.
We have always felt he was taking the unofficial to Kansas on Sept 28th. If Kansas ever offered he would commit to KU.

Edit: Dinner was more casual than usual and a bigger group. It could be that Walker and his mother requested something more casual. It was at a Japanese steakhouse. All four coaches, Walker, his mother, Fatts and one other player (not sure who).

Walker and his mother meet again with Coach Cox tomorrow morning.

URI’s approach of having the player arrive on Thurs night and start the visit Friday morning (start of 48 hour clock) is a great plan. I know many other schools do this as well. It allows for the two dinners and for Coach Cox to close the visit with a meeting Sunday morning. Rhody maximizes the full 48 hours. It also allows the recruit and family to get back home at a reasonable time on Sunday.

I can see Coach Cox putting his two A10 Champion rings on Walker’s fingers. Then saying come to Rhode Island Anthony and you can get several of these. Join a winning program (hinting don’t join a rebuild from 0-18).

I agree. It did sound pretty promising. I think his Mom really likes URI and this could make a big difference. It sounds like we did all the right things on his visit.

I think it is great for us that his Mom was also here. Being from Maryland hopefully she has a chance to speak with the families of other Rams from Maryland.

The campus is gorgeous this time of year, with at least 10 new structures being raised in the past 10 years alone, landscape improvements and more interior renovations being completed. Kingston is blowing up and its a great time for anyone to see it.
