Walker would start for 3 years. Martin would play the 2. This would be a good problem to have.

Anyone promising a player PT right away is not to be believed. PT is earned no matter where you go.

Walker has a chance to be a star here. Potential for a four year NCAA tournament run.
He will get challenged every single day. Someone looking to go to the next level should welcome that.
Get him on campus, tell him the truth and let him decide. That's all we can ask.

This I agree with - however where would that have put Bishop? There is 20 plus minutes for Walker with this team, but he will have to be really good to win out a starting spot. Personally, I would take that over going to Pitt and maybe starting a year and then being recruited over once Capel gets things really going. Just me.

Or Capel struggles in the ACC and you play four years on a bottom team. Makes the four years a grind. Not many players on losing teams throughout their college career get drafted in the NBA.

Wondering if and when Anthony Walker will mention his official visit to URI tomorrow. He has hyped up Illinois, Pittsburgh and Miami with his dealings with them. No picture of URI on his twitter from the coaches in home visit last week.

I noticed the same thing. He talked about his other visits 2 or 3 days before they happened. No mention of URI in many weeks. I don't think this visit is happening. This is likely why we brought in Aris and have recently intensified our recruiting on a couple of other guys.

1. Aris has nothing to do with Walker. Period.
2. The visit is still on.
3. He hasn’t been on social media much at all the past couple of days.
4. Sutton was just at Brewster yesterday.
5. The staff has to give the kid time to himself, we cant be in his face 24/7.

Walker retweeted the Team BBC tweet about his visit to Rhody. Most of his communication in advance of the visits has been retweets of others announcing the visit. Then he tweeted either at the airport and during the visit (Pitt) or just during the visit (Illinios). I agree his retweets from Walker regarding Rhody have died down.

Sutton (who is the lead on Walker) also retweeted it.

While I don’t believe in negative recruiting, Sutton did just come from Pitt, and I’m sure he has some insight on how things operate over there.

From talking with Coach Sutton that is the complete opposite of his personslity. He is a very positive, optimistic person. He gets along with coaches from all over the country. He is a teacher. I know you didn’t imply it, just letting others know that no way Sutton or Cox use negative recruiting.

This is how recruiting works, the player takes his time assessing his options and then makes a decision. These things tend to eb and flow. Do we have a shot at Walker? 100% in my opinion. Otherwise the staff wouldn’t still be involved. Does he has a list of 2 or 3 or 4 front runners from the sound of it? Yes, so let’s let this play out and stop being so negative. If the staff only chases recruits that we should 100% get then we would be targeting less targets. Enjoy it guys and expect to win some and lose some. Thats part of the fun.

Some do it that way. Bishop didn't, which is fine, btw.

I agree.
Sometimes a kid gets on a campus and just says "Yeah, this is it. This feels like home."
That may be what happened to Bishop. That is his prerogative, and we should respect it.
It is a good way to be. Everyone knows where you stand and can move on.

I am hoping that Walker visits here this weekend and has that same feeling.

If anything, everyone needs to go and 'like' his tweet. When he tweeted Champaign, Illinois, he got 1.2 thousand likes. Kids notice these things.

Whatever happened to the Coast Guard on Friday nights? My wife and I were down there last Friday for a drink after dinner thinking it would be packed with kids. It used to be a huge line and the best happy hour around that took over 30 minutes to get in. It was dead.

Visit starts tomorrow morning. Dinner with a few players Friday night. Dinner with Coach Cox Saturday night (usually in Newport).
I am guessing Dowtin is one of the players involved with MD connection. Not sure if they involve the Fr at all (Harris & Martin from MD). My guess is Cyril (another big man) and potentially Fatts.

Recruiting is so weird, and I love it. But, I am glad my job has nothing to do with sucking up to 19 year olds.

I think I went there once in my five years (2002-07). Once they rebuilt, I was under the impression they catered much more to the older and out-of-state crowds.

There used to be a dance floor and bar on the second floor of the coast guard house where it was really packed. I believe it was shut down when I was a Senior (2012) because of fire code?. Otherwise, it was still a great spot in the warmer months.

The team is doing indoor karting with Walker. Some IG post at the place by Fatts ans Thompson.

Update: our competitive players didn’t backoff for the recruit

. Willy posted results from the first race and Walker finished 8th out of 11. Fatts figured it out and finished 9th

Took a look at the Pitt message board. In general they are concerned about Walker’s quotes this week in an article with Pitt reporter. From their board:
Walker quote in article “The visit wasn’t a waste of time.”

Another post:
He said, he didn't want the campus to be too big.
Then in his 1st statement about Pitt he said the campus, was huge.
I didn't like the way that sounded.

Here is a regular poster on their board posting about URI:
The other 3 though, yeah, we should win out to them based on campus, coolness and all that... but if the kid says he wants a tiny campus, then maybe he will pick URI or VCU. Ive been to Rhode Island, its not the best either, the state as a whole is run down from years of mafia pilfering and government side deals, and the university is no different, plus RI students are basically considered community college attendees since Brown is nearby. They do have an amazing donut shop near campus though lol.
