I wouldn't say that. I would say its mostly money but let's look at the facts... Hurley is a builder. He can build programs (Wagner and URI). I have total faith he could rebuild any program. Pitt is in the ACC, it doesn't take much for a kid to have interest in an ACC school, add in a good coach like Hurley....

Hurley could have Pitt a national top-25 program in 3 years, tops.
My thoughts exactly. I doubt that intimidates him at all.

After the Duke game Dan said he hadn't given one second's thought about another job and could give two craps about any other job openings. He also said he was going to hibernate for a few days. We know the latter didn't happen if he met on two different jobs on Monday.

If he hadn't given a second's thought about another job until at least Sunday, how could he possibly make a decision to uproot his life and family in two days? If that happens, then I would have to think these openings have been a distraction over the last couple weeks. No way anyone makes those life altering decisions so quickly.

Looking forward to one of these two conversations with non-Rhody fans:

If Hurley leaves: "URI will never be committed to being a perennial contender, they'll never compete with the big boys, etc."
If Hurley stays: "I can't believe the state is spending $X on a BASKETBALL COACH"

Pitt allows 2-3 years of absolutely zero pressure in the best conference in the game. Add in 25 million bucks and zero NCAA issues? I would 100% take it over UConn. Like URI when DH took it, it's a school with a very nice basketball tradition. You just have to be able to see the potential in things.

As brutal as this waiting game has been, some of the replies posted within the last 20 mins here have been absolutely priceless and added some much needed comedy to an otherwise stressful situation. I was literally laughing out loud at my desk. Cooked, baked AND sliced. F'n classic.

I agree with the other poster on CT living lately, definitely gone downhill. Particularly east of the river as the insurance companies are leaving Hartford and the engineering jobs are leaving the state.

It's possible that I could be wrong, but if collegehoopsjunky is correct, that would mean Hurley made a deal with UConn before talking to the URI administration. Does anyone who knows him think that he would operate that way?

Duke, Carolina, Indiana, UCLA, Syracuse, Arizona, Kansas, Gonzaga, etc arent brands because they are on billboards or plastered on bus stops. They are brands because they win and are seen/covered more nationally.
I dont agree. Winning is the most important part, and a key cornerstone to an overall strategy. But you don't have a financially successful product merely by building a good product.
Thank you Sandman. Bose makes a superior headphone. But Beats by Dre has destroyed them in the marketplace, why is that? Marketing. The product actually sucks.
I worked in marketing at Bose for 8 years and the statement above is unfortunately true. Not to the extent of Beats "destroying" Bose, but they certainly did take considerable market share away from us with an inferior product but an exponentially larger advertising budget, as well as buzz from entertainers and athletes. At least Bose was smart enough to pay to become the official headphones of the NFL.

Was Dan headed TO URI or AWAY from it? lol

Been reading this thread from NJ the last few days. Some really crazy shit.

Thorr and Dooley have to have known this was coming....if Moore and Calhoun were talking to Dan...you think they would have been aware of it?

Anyway, it looks like URI will try a Hail Mary to keep Dan......no enhancements were offered after last season? That's not good, and may be a big reason why Dan is really looking hard at offers this time around.

It's going to take a huge commitment to keep him now.

Boy, Goodmans tweet makes everything even more confusing. I hope he is wrong on this one hahah. Based off of what he tweeted, not meeting up with Thorr yet, would possibly mean another day or two of all this. This is like the ultimate cliff hanger destined for extreme emotion one way or the other.

A review of his prior posts and other forensic analysis confirmed suspicion that he was here to cause trouble under multiple usernames. It sure did seal the deal when at the first sign that I was on to him he broke character. Consider all his posts as fraudulent.
