Well based on URI's history playing in the NCAAs, I thought I read in an ESPN article that this team's seed was the highest of any URI team that has ever played. The team that made it to the Elite 8 in the 1990s was an 8 seed. So maybe we can start a tradition of all teams that make it to the tournament that are an 8 seed or higher will make it to the "Elite 8" or better.

My main concern for our offense is turnovers. URI's D turns over the opponent's offense 22.7% of the time, which is 5th best in the country. Since the start of conference play we've played 3 teams that collect better than 20% turnovers: Saint John's (loss), Virginia (loss), and NC State (loss).
3 teams that also play small/guard ball. SJU has no one over 6'9, NC State has 1 and he's not a feature player, same for Virginia

I am so tired of duke as a rhody fan.
I want no moral victories!
I want our number higher than there’s at the end of the game. I don’t care if it’s 1 better or 25!

We have to hit some early 3’s to loosen up there zone.
And if for some reason Allen has a relapse and trips, pushes or anything like that to one of our guys, I think I speak for all of rhody nation “ we will track him down “

Very interested to see how we defend Bagley and Carter. Do we try to play them straight up and push them away from the basket? Do we play on their side and try and deflect the post pass? Or do we try to gamble by fronting and deny and make them throw it over the top? In any case, Andre will have a tough time. We have to get at least 30 minutes of tough defense from Cyril today, at the same time, trying to stay out of foul trouble. I'm hoping Stan's quickness can get some steals on some of those post passes too. I think our guards can handle theirs. Cyril and Stan need to have huge defensive games.

Slightly OT: Was at the packy this morning stocking up on 'Gansett when a guy noticed my URI gear. "Hope you guys beat Duke," he said. "So do I," I replied.

"No, I really hope you beat Duke."

"They knocked us out in '78 and '88, so it's time."

I know for 3 weeks ESPN has been saying Duke's zone is coming together. Yada Yada.

Carter is the lynchpin in the zone.

I hope URI doesn't trust Dukes zone as something that is actually playing defense. They guard zones not men often. Mistake.

Bagely isn't guarding. He isn't blocking out because he can reach the ceiling and never has had to. Duke is really just showing a good effort. IF Rhody sees through that and maintains their confidence it will be a great day.
