And also, I'm not convinced that Tillman is all that much more worrisome than Cunningham. Whatever, man. Tomorrow, and really all weekend, is all about us. If we show up to play, I'm not worried about any of these teams.

The only real interest I have in this game is how much I HATE Williams, and really I admit that it is 100% superficial. I just hate looking at his stupidly shaped body and his ugly face/beard/hair combo. He looks like a troll doll come to life and I hate looking at him.

Dayton falls apart late and loses 77-72.

VCU like I said has a knack for winning these types of games in the tournament.

We had better not let them hang around late.

They hung around in the finals last year and that was a much better VCU team than this one. I expect us to come out angry and laser focused. We will not lose to another A10 team this year.

I think VCU is a decent matchup for us after the last few games: they will look to push the pace and would expect them to play mostly man to man defense which plays to our strengths

Getting off to a good start will be key

VCU will have a decided home crowd advantage tomorrow. It is very nice for the league to make new members so welcome by siting the tournament so close to their fan bases. The A-10 bent over backwards for Xavier, Dayton, and VCU to give them all a tournament in their backyards. This is something URI has never been given and will likely never see despite being one of the longest tenured conference members.

we know the gameplan for this one. Man up Cyril on Tillman and let em go. Guards stick to the perimeter and stop the secondary scoring.

I hear ya on that, but we went right into their backyard earlier and played well. I'm confident our guys come out focused and more importantly rested and get back to playing team basketball on offense and harassing on the defensive end

I don't like him because his game reminds me of Jordair Jett - former PG at SLU who randomly went off for like 33 of SLUs 50-something total points when they beat us at the Ryan in Hurley's early years

I think it is because when I played I was a 6'2" 150 lb PG and I had to match up with tons of little stocky kids built like fire hydrants and it was the worst. I feel for Jeff having to deal with him, although he hasn't seemed as bothered by it as I was.

Looks like the four VA-DC schools like having the tournament in their backyard. 4-0 thus far and it looks like GW will make it an even better 5-0 if they close the deal vs SLU. Must be nice. Rhody has been in the league more than 35 years and never had that experience. Likely will never get it.

Most conference members would think New York is in our area. It's only one hour longer to get from URI to New York as it is to get from Richmond to DC, and that's not even counting the frequent train service if you drive in to Connecticut and travel from there. We need to stop complaining that the tournament isn't held in RI and start dominating the NYC tournaments

Not only is DC closer to VCU in Richmond (vs URI to NYC), the great majority of its alumni base live in the area between the two cities. This makes it even closer than the two hours for many of their fanbase. The majority of URI fans do not live in the three hour corridor between the school and NYC.

I get that the tournament is not going to be in New England very often. I however think it not unreasonable that it come to NE on ocassion given two of the most tenured league members are there. It is now going on more than 35 years and it has not happened.

DC is geographically convenient for 2 Philly schools 2 Maryland schools and 2 Virginia schools.

It’s also easily accessible via train and plane for everyone.

Boston is convenient for only 2 schools and inconvenient for everyone else. No shot.

Well if we can have our tourney in NY [Barclay's] then we can have it at Mohegan.

Other than Rutgers, where is it convenient for the rest of the B10, to have their tourney in NY?

Other than BC, where is it convenient for the rest of the ACC, to have theirs there too?

I can see it happening if we get tossed out of the Barclay's down the road. At least for a year or 2?

I would love Mohegan. Could make sense for the A10 since they had it in Atlantic City all those years.

On a separate note. Any watch parties in RI? I am thinking of going to Arooga's for the game today for a very long lunch break.

A huge chunk of our alumni are located in NY and NJ, close by Brooklyn, and that's one of our major recruiting areas for students. Having the tournament there is great for us, and once a year we need to break the RI mentality of not going more than 15 minutes in any direction and we need to flood Barclays. Anything else is pathetic whining.

Atlantic City was in the middle of a large chunk of the conference. Mohegan is in the middle of nowhere, only close to URI and maybe UMass I guess. Plus it's a crappy arena in the middle of a depressing casino.

How were Cincinnati for two years and Dayton for two years convenient for a lot of A-10 schools? Heck, even Pittsburgh is a bit of an outlier for the present make-up (it wasn't in the early days of the conference when it hosted many times as there were several nearby members).

I am not arguing that DC is not a good location. You can throw Philadelphia into the mix as well. Plenty of schools nearby and somewhat centrally located. Makes sense to have it in either location every few years. My problem is that not once in 35 years has the tourney ever come to our region, home to two of the most tenured league members. Yet, the johnny come lately members, some being geographic outliers, get the tournament nearby relatively early in their membership.

URI has played EVERY A-10 Tournament in some other member's back yard. It has been at a disadvantage in the tourney EVERY year it has been in the A-10.

Bonnies and Spiders tied at 32 at the half. Stockard again coming up big with 12 points.

Adams with ZERO points so far.....I doubt that will continue....he will get going, and Bona will win it.
