With good ball control and great shooting including a barrage of three pointers (11 made in the half), Davidson is swamping Saint Joseph's with the halftime score at 52-28!

Aldridge has 29 points, one point more than the entire St Joe's team at the half.

URI will really need to defend the three on Friday night. Everyone of the Wildcats like to shoot the three and they can get hot.

There won't be any letdown Friday night. They know they will have to play well to win. Davidson is really hot right now.

Some teams in this league already look like they are packing it in for the season.

Yeah but they're all set shooters. They can't create their own looks.

Perimeter defense just needs to stay home and forget Aldridge. They won't beat us with 2s

Aldridge went 5-11 on 3's tonight...the team made 20 out of 39.....ridiculous.

We keep them under 10 made 3's....we win.....

Yeah they are set shooters, but they had 27 assists.....going to have to harass the shit out of them and turn them over.

We will be selling out to chase them off 3 pt line, likely leaving us susceptible to backdoor and basket cuts which they will do often.
I am sure we will settle for 2s over 3s, try to turn them over and wear them out over the 40 minutes. Grady is going to be a stud but he will be a freshman PG in a sold out arena against a swarming defense.

I will never forget when we played them at home 3 years ago and how unbelievable they looked in that first half. It was so sound, so technical with the backcourt cuts, running their offense so crisp, etc etc.

One of the best halves I’ve seen an opponent play against us in a long time.

It depends how many 3’s they launch. If they take 34 and hit 10 that is under 30%.

I was at that game. You are right. They made us look silly in the first half. But then Dan made some adjustments. I just looked at the play by play. They led 48-37 with 14:05 left. Over the next 11:45 their only score was a Brian Sullivan 3 pointer. We took a 54-51 lead with 2:14 left only to lose on the Gibbs 3 pointer.

I have to believe they do not have as many offensive weapons and our defense is a little more lock down. But the 3 pointer is what makes college basketball so much fun. It is the great equalizer. Hopefully they got their hot shooting out of their systems last night.

That defensive effort against them in the second half that night was legendary.
We put up one hell of a Rhode Block and they could not score. The problem was, as I recall, we couldn't make any damn shots! The comeback was a slow one.

I actually think that Years defense was maybe better than this years overall. Maybe even last years.
We just couldn't score.

This Davidson team is not as good as that Davidson team and these Rhody Rams are better than those Rhody Rams.

They cannot handle it if we impose our will on them. Our athletes are much stronger physically and just as quick as they are.

Working on the Davidson preview which I hope to have up tonight. In the meantime, wanted to mention something on Bonnies - whatever was going on with them early in the conference season, they seem to have corrected course. They've now won 5 in a row with their demolition of a SLU team tonight that had been pretty competitive lately. Currently, rpiforecast expects them to drop 3 more games and finish with a final RPI of 45. Looking at their schedule, it is entirely possible that they could win six or seven of their final seven games. Best case scenario, URI beats Bonnies in Oleans and they win their other six games. If it were to play out that way, Bonnies could end up right on the 30 RPI threshold to turn our home win against them into another quadrant 1 win. It would also potentially put them back into at-large consideration. That's the best-case scenario for Rhody and the A-10 - would be really nice to get two teams into the field in this down year.

Just a suggestion, but why not post the Davidson thread right after the VCU Game last Friday and leave a "placeholder" for your personal pregame story to be added later when you have time to prepare it?
Just like members do when they hear about a potential recruiting section. They post the Player in the Message Title and placeholder in the first message

Posting the Davidson game thread the day before the game, when there is a whole week between games is too late. We end up with Davidson comments mixed in to other threads that would logically go in the Davidson Game thread if it was there

With such an exciting season as this you could even put the Richmond Thread up now so comments get channeled there.

Made no sense... he was hitting bombs from everywhere yet for some reason SLU was still not really even guarding him and he kept just jacking up shots. He literally wasnt being guarded even after he had made like 5 in a row

Iona got smoked 72-50 at home by a below .500 Monmouth. They are now 15-10, tied for 3rd place (9-4) in the MAAC. They have been a bit of a disappointment to date. They still however have as good a chance as anyone to win the auto bid at the MAAC Tourney.
